Hi I'm Jared

I'm active. I love the outdoors. I'm an artist. I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California. I ran track in high school and spent most of my weekends and summers going rock climbing with friends. I met my wife on a blind date. We’ve been married for 18 years. We have 3 kids and our oldest is a freshman in high school. I work as a technical recruiter for a nation wide publicly traded staffing company. I try to stay active and have been doing some kind of physical exercise for most of my life. I love the outdoors, I enjoy camping and especially survival camping. My hobbies also include: Hiking, Climbing, Cycling, Weight Lifting, Fishing, Reptiles, film making, 3D modeling and animation, painting, drawing, and primitive archery.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church. When I was 12 years old I began to wonder if going to church was what God wanted me to do. Not just going to church but belonging to THIS church. I wanted to know if what my parents believed was true. I wanted to know if Joseph Smith really was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon was really the word of God. I wanted to know for my self. So I prayed and prayed…..God answered my prayers. He talked directly to me in a way I could understand. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I asked God and he answered. And he has reaffirmed that answer over and over again.

How I live my faith

One thing I love about our church is that each member has a responsibility. We all work together to help support one another. When a person has a specific responsibility in our church it’s called a “calling” because we believe the person is truly called by God to perform that specific service. I have had many different callings but it seems that God wants me to help the youth most of all. I’ve been serving as a youth group leader off and on for about 13 years. I am currently working with the boys in our area who are ages 14 and 15. The Church is a big supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and that program goes hand in hand with our youth program for boys. So along with my calling to teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ I am also an official Scout Leader called a Varsity Scout Coach. I have really enjoyed it. It’s a lot of work but very rewarding. Plus I get to do so many things that I love. We go camping once a month and get to do all kinds of fun things. Currently I’m teaching them to make their own bow and arrow from scratch. I along with other leaders teach the boys lessons on Sunday about God and the importance of having good values, living a good life, treating women and girls with respect and helping others when ever there is a need. I feel like I am blessed to have an opportunity to make a difference in those boy’s lives. It certainly makes a difference in mine. The gospel of Jesus Christ is all about helping others. Our church is about serving others as he would want us to. As a Christian / Mormon I try to do all I can to follow his teachings and serve others.
