Hi I'm Michael

I'm a National Board Certified Teacher that loves riding with my sweetheart or playing with grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife introduces me as someone that collects hobbies! I love teaching in an elementary school. I restore old cars and tractors, ride Harley's across this beautiful country, sing in a Barbershop Quartet and Chorus, play guitar, love climbing, operate a ham radio station, and can be found playing with my grandchildren anytime I can!

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because this faith promises me that my family can be with me forever. My family is the most important thing in my life. It never made sense to me to spend the bulk of my life developing a relationship with my wife and children to have it all end at death. This church teaches me what's next in my life. There is so much more to do after accepting Jesus as my Savior. I find the covenants made at baptism to be comforting in all aspects of my life. It is important to comfort those around me, to serve those I come in contact with to make their burdens a bit lighter, and to attend church on a regular basis to worship and to be re-energized by the good spirit I feel when in attendance. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides a powerful way for me to fulfill my desires to be of service to those around me. While praying for someone is great, serving them is so much more fulfilling.

How I live my faith

One of the concepts taught in this church is that all the leadership positions are unpaid. We all take turns giving sermons, teaching, and caring for others. While I spend a bit of time in leadership meetings, those same meetings give me ideas on how I can be on the "Lord's errand" as I go about my life. The spirit I feel in those meetings strengthen me and help me as I strive to improve myself. I have the blessing to visit several homes each month to present a brief gospel message and to care for those who dwell there, just as someone comes to my home each month to help and support me in my quest to come closer to the Savior. My favorite way to worship is through singing, so you'll find me constantly singing in choirs and quartets during church services.
