Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Mormon. I love musical theater and writing musicals. I started a children's theater in my community.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Oregon where I was involved in theater, band, choir, and school leadership. I have one older brother, three younger sisters, and a little brother. My family loves spending time together. I went to college in Utah where I earned my Bachelor's degree in music. I'm currently working on a Master's degree in musicology. I have been married for two years and I love being with my husband. We like to exercise, read, and cook together.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ brings me peace, happiness, and a sense of direction. I can't imagine what my life would be like without the knowledge that my Father in heaven loves me and knows me. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins and that he understands every trial we go through. If we agree to have faith in Christ and do our best to follow his commandments, we can live with God and Jesus Christ again someday. I also believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored the gospel to the earth. When I was in high school, there were very few other Mormons my age. I was often made fun of or left out of social events because of my religion. There came a point where I had to decide whether I was going to live true to my beliefs. I knew that it might seem easier to forget what I believed and follow what my peers did. However, I wanted true, lasting happiness, so I decided to stick to my faith, even when it wasn't easy. Because of that decision, I have been guided in many life choices and protected of dangerous situations.

How I live my faith

I have used my love of music to help serve in my ward. Currently, I play the piano and choose the hymns. I believe that music is very powerful and can bring us closer to God. It doesn't even have to be church-related music. All kinds of music that are uplifting and positive can influence how we think and behave.
