Hi I'm Mary

I got a degree in Electrical Engineering. I'm a stay-at-home mom to four kids. I want to write a book someday. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was very blessed to do well in school and to have the opportunity to go to college. I received a degree in Electrical Engineering, which I really enjoyed. I worked for a little over a year and a half. Then my husband and I had our first daughter. My mother had been a stay-at-home mom and I wanted that for my children, so I quit. Now we have four children and their lives fill mine. I love music and learned to play the flute and sing. I also love to dance. Fortunately so does my husband. I love stories. I love to read them or tell them. I also love getting to know people. I volunteer at our community center for a playgroup for preschool-age children. It's a great opportunity for me and my son to make friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church. I studied the scriptures and went to seminary (religious classes taught at the high-school level). It has always made sense. I also have always known my prayers are heard and answered. Sometimes I haven't liked the answer, but I have always gotten an answer, even if it was no or wait. I always tried to do what I had been taught to do. I always believed it was true. But my path to 'knowing' the truth has been a long one. I have gained a stronger and stronger knowledge of more and more parts of the truth as the years have gone by. Now I can say truely that I know we have a Heavenly Father, and that he sent Jesus Christ to save us. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God, and that everything that he set down and established in the church was done by the will of God. I know that the leaders of this chuch who have come after Joseph Smith have also known and done the will of God. Most of all I know that Heavenly Father loves me (and everyone), and he will never give up on us. He will love us no matter what we say, feel, or do, and will keep cheering us on to a better self. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to always do things that are consistant with my faith and beliefs. I pray a lot for help to do this. I teach my children the gospel and how to live the commandments. I try to be a good example to them, and to others. I serve in the church in whatever way they ask me to. I currently lead the music in our main worship meeting. My family has also helped clean the church building, brought meals to new mothers, and helped weed yards. In my interaction with my neighbors and others in my community I try to always be kind and friendly. I have made many friends at our community center playgroup. One a friend of mine was worried, her husband was having a major surgury. Myself and several of the other ladies from our playgroup brought her meals to help out during that time. My time in the church had taught me how helpful that can be.What it comes down to is trying to live like Jesus. I have a long way to go, but I am trying.
