Hi I'm Alex

I write songs. I am majoring in business management. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just spent a year at college, planning to major in Business Management with a finance emphasis. I am a major history buff, especially when it comes to United States history. I like to stay up to date in the news, and might consider running for public office in the future. Singing and writing songs are some of my favorite pastimes. My favorite artists are Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, and the Beatles. I acted quite a bit in high school, including singing lead in the barbershop quartet from the Music Man. I was also on my school's improv team my senior year. I am now a missionary for my church, serving in Brazil for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but that isn't why I´m a member of this church. I´m not a member because of the presence of friends, because I enjoy the meetings, or because it just makes sense. I´m a member because I know it´s true. I know that it is the true church because the Spirit, through careful prayer and study, has told me it is true. I know without a doubt that Jesus Christ came to the world to atone for our sins, so that we might return to live in our Heavenly Father's presence. I know the scriptures are true. I believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, both of which testify of Christ. Christ and our Father in Heaven are different people, and both of them love me personally, knowing my individual faults and strengths. Families are meant to last forever, and I look forward to an eternal marriage with my future spouse. This doctrine brings me tremendous joy with its promise. There is a prophet on the earth today, Thomas Monson, who speaks the will and word of God to those of us who live in these times. Revelations and miracles did not end two thousand years ago. They continue still, especially through the power of the priesthood as it was restored by Joseph Smith. He, too, was a prophet, and restored the full truth to the earth. I truly hope those reading will understand that I speak with full conviction of heart, without a shadow of doubt.

How I live my faith

The greatest way that I live my faith is based around the type of person that I am striving to become. I believe that as a member of this church I have a greater understanding of who I want to be and how I can accomplish it. I try every day to be a little better, to try a little harder. I do my best to love those around me because I know they are my brothers and sisters. I place great emphasis on my family relationships because I know they will last forever, even after death. I try to be more like Christ because I know that he is my Redeemer. As far as daily living goes, every day I spend some time praying and reading from the scriptures. In my current station as a missionary in Brazil, I devote all of my time to serving others and God, while teaching others about the doctrines of our Church. I do not receive any kind of pay--in fact I worked before the mission to save up money in order to be here. I serve only because I know that what I´m teaching is true and have a great desire to share the joy I have with others.
