Hi I'm Jameson

I'm from Las Vegas. I live in Texas. I love volleyball, fiction, and pizza. I'm a son, brother, husband, and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a blessed person. I have wonderful parents and siblings. I have an amazing wife. Together we have three children, each of whom I adore more than the next. I even have great in-laws! I was born in Provo, Utah, but was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada - A great place to live if you're surrounded by the right people. I was. I was protected from that which is enticing but ultimately empty. At the same time I was shown how to reach out and participate in my community. I know how to recognize and embrace things that matter and that last. And as we all know from G.I. Joe, knowing is half the battle... I love watching and playing sports, especially baseball and volleyball. I used to coach high school volleyball, and still look for opportunities to coach youth. I'm also crazy about college basketball. I can't say that I love hard work, but I do love the feeling of accomplishment that comes with it. My professional background is in HR, where I've focused on employee communications. But I also have some marketing background, and that's what I'm doing now in Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a sixth generation Mormon. I'm a Mormon, at least in part, because my great great great Grandfather Thomas Steed heard about the church from missionaries who were sent to England shortly after the church was founded. He received a witness from the Holy Ghost that these missionaries were teaching truths not found anywhere else. He left his family to move to America and personally hear the prophet Joseph Smith. I have a Mormon legacy. More importantly, I'm a Mormon because of the witness of the Holy Ghost to my own soul that the Church of Jesus Christ is on the earth today, that it bears His name, and that it is lead by living prophets and apostles. I've been given much, and I find the greatest joys in life come when I show gratitude to my Heavenly Father for all that's he's given me by serving Him in His Kingdom. That's why I'm happy to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be honest. I try to teach my kids that God has a plan for each of His children, and that we can be truly happy by choosing to learn and live that plan. I live my faith by reading the words of ancient and modern prophets, and by sharing what I feel with those around me.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The teachings in the Book of Mormon are primarily those of ancient prophets who lived in the Western Hemisphere before and after Christ's birth. A prophet by the name of Mormon who lived after Christ's birth compiled and abridged the teachings from numerous religious records spanning thousands of years. Mormon gave the compiled record to his son Moroni, who later buried the record. In the early 19th century, this same Moroni appeared in the form of an angel to a boy named Joseph Smith. Moroni explained to Joseph that God had a work for him to do. Part of this work was to bring forth the same record that Moroni had buried. Through the power of God, Joseph Smith later translated the ancient record into English. That translated record is what we now have in the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
