Hi I'm Radeen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mom and now I am a grandmother. I have loved all of these rolls but being a mother and a grandmother has been the best. Seeing the light in a child’s eyes brings more joy and happiness than anything ever could. Knowing that you have had a part in the creation of a child makes that joy even sweeter. There is nothing like holding a precious newborn baby in your arms. They are such miracles. As for hobbies, well... they are all related to each other really and to my love of; family, travel, scrapbooking, food storage and family history research... I retired from an airline company where I traveled a lot and retired with lifetime flight benefits. So, I take a lot of pictures where ever I go (with my family). Then when we get home, I create a scrapbook! Of course one of my favorite things to scrapbook is my children and my grandchildren. Right now my favorite book I am working on is my son, who is serving his mission. I have also scrapbooked my family history. Another hobby for me is emergency preparedness and food storage. I take this very seriously and have worked hard to make sure that my family is ready for any emergency whether it is a man made, natural or work stop related. I basically just love to go and see new places, experience new things. It's fun to see what other people see and do in their everyday life. And then come home and re-create it through my picture scrapbooks. I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

The missionaries came to our home 22 years ago. My husband and I were baptized together in October of 1989. One year later our son was born. It was truly a miracle as the doctors said it would most likely never happen for us again (we already had one daughter who was a 4½ year old miracle herself). But the story of my pregnancy with him and then ultimately his birth is nothing short of that… a MIRACLE. Over the last few years, we have learned so much. We have learned that while we are not perfect, Heavenly Father’s plan is. He has made a way for us to come unto him and find peace from all our trials and the pure joy of love in everyday life. We are so grateful for the missionary program and will always have a special place in our hearts for missionaries everywhere. We are grateful for the 2 missionaries that came to our home that day back in 1989. We are grateful to the members who loved us unconditionally and supported us in our infancy in the church, patiently answering our questions. We are grateful for our daughter and the sweet grandchildren she has given us. We are grateful for our son who 20 years later is now honorably serving his own mission. I lost my Mom 14 years ago and my Dad 5 years ago. It hurt so much; I don’t know how people without the gospel survive events like those. But I know that I will see my parents again someday. The gospel makes the pain easier to endure. That is what the gospel does for me. It doesn’t take away the pains of the world; it just gives you a way to handle them, both the good and the bad. And I’m so grateful for that. I couldn’t live without Christ in my life now. He’s been a part of it for the last 22 years and I could never live without him now. My name is Radeen and I’m a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love food storage and the principle of emergency preparedness. I know that is a weird statement, but I do. It took a long time for me to embrace that concept, but one day I was at the book store and I found this book about preparing meals using food storage. It looked good so I bought it. I started using it and my granddaughter who would not eat anything except macaroni and cheese or pizza ended up loving the first dish I made which was Chicken Tetrazzini. So, I tried another dish (White Chicken Chili) and surprise, she loved that one too. Oh my goodness, I was on a roll. Before I knew it, everything I made she loved. It was like I was a rock star! So when I heard my friend was going to a food storage party, I asked if I could tag along. She said sure and I was hooked after that. Now, I am the food storage queen. My friends hate it when I get going on it because once I get started; I am a little fanatical about it. But I cannot help it. I love to talk food storage or recipes that I have found using food storage. Actually, anything that has to do with emergency preparedness is a great thing to talk about if you ask me. I’ve even turned it into a wedding gift thing. Is that weird? Anyway, now I teach classes on how to prepare dinners using food storage. I love it! It's so great, I get asked to do something I love to do anyway! Isn't life wonderful?
