Hi I'm Travis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Navy veteran. I am retired and spend my free time in my garden. I enjoy leathercraft and camping

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I started looking for a church after our first child was born. We went to several different Christian churches and just felt sometning was missing. One Sunday my wife attended Sacrament meeting with one of her co-workers. She came home all excited and said, "I've found our church. This is the one!" I went with her next Sunday and we were baptized 3 weeks later. As I read the Book of Mormon, I received a confirmation from the Spirit that it was scripture. That was over 40 years ago and it would be impossible to count up the blessings we have received over the years. I am so thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the atonement. I am thankful for a loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

The Church has become a way of life. It isn't just a 'Sunday thing'. One of the first things I learned about the Church that is different from other churches I attended as a youth is that you learn and grow by doing. One of my first callings in the Church was working with the youth and teaching a lesson on Sunday morning. Of course, I learned more doing that than the youth did.
