Hi I'm Mike

I'm a college student. I'm a small town family man. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town and don't feel at home anywhere else. I moved away to go to college, get work experience, and meet my wife Ashley. I moved back home as soon as I could so I could start putting roots down and enjoy the simple life. I have a lot of interests and hobbies which include sports, horseback riding, film making, photography, guitar, carpenter work, and lots more. I love sharing these hobbies with all of my family and am excited for that to include my newest and first born son Grant.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I always struggled with people in this church stating that they KNEW that God lived and answered prayers, that they KNEW that Joseph Smith was called to restore the Gospel and be a Prophet, that they KNEW that the Book of Mormon was a true second testament of Jesus Christ. How could they KNOW that? My friends and family would ask if I KNEW those things and I would answer "No, and I don't understand how anyone could KNOW that without any doubt." Sure I believed the principles that were taught by the Church were true and that acting contrary to the Church standards and teachings just never felt right, but I hadn't recognized a witness of these truths for myself. Everyone always says that to come to know the truth for yourself you need to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. Well I knew the Book of Mormon pretty well and had read a lot of different parts, but I finally took the challenge seriously. I read 10 pages a day and prayed every night asking if the book was true until it was finished. before I had even gotten through the first month I felt the spirit bearing witness to me so powerfully that I couldn't help but bare witness of it to others. I would find myself telling people in passing that I KNEW it was a true second testament of Jesus Christ. I didn't even think about what I was saying and I would find myself telling someone that I KNEW Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of our Heavenly Father. Since taking on that challenge I have had opportunity after opportunity for it to grow and be strengthened to the point that I just don't know how I can know it with more surety, but some new witness or blessing always comes to strengthen it further.

How I live my faith

First I try to keep myself in check with studying and pondering elements of the Gospel. This is always to be accompanied by prayer for understanding. Next with my family and friends. I look for opportunities to help and be there in any way I can with everyone. I love opportunities to help people finish projects and get their lives in the directions they want them to be going. I also love finding fun recreational activities to do that everyone can participate in. I also look for opportunities to get involved with the community. Whether it's a service project or a community activity. I also get to assist the Bishop from our ward with setting up appointments and interviews. I get to participate in meetings where ward leaders discuss ways we can continue to strengthen and help each other. I am so grateful for every opportunity I seize to live my Faith.
