Hi I'm Don

I'm an ABC (American Born Chinese) from Wyoming. I'm a husband, a father, a technology geek, a soccer coach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an ABC (American Born Chinese) born and raised in a small town in Wyoming. I grew up playing in the prairie catching lizards and riding bikes. I also played all kinds of sports growing up including soccer, baseball, football, basketball and tennis. I started college at the University of Wyoming, but then transferred to the University of Utah where I eventually graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 17 years old. I was and still am the only member of the church in my immediate family. After graduating from college, I served as a missionary in Hong Kong. Upon my return from missionary service, I married my eternal companion in the San Diego Temple. We currently have two beautiful children. I am currently employed by one of the top technology companies in the world. I enjoy coaching my daughter's soccer team and spending quality time with family and friends. I also love to make and eat good food!

Why I am a Mormon

I attribute my becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints partly to my mother who passed away when I was only 16 years old. Her passing was very unexpected and I was going through a difficult time. I was friends with many members of the church who consoled me and eventually introduced me to the church where I learned that families could be together forever. This gave me great comfort knowing I would be able to see my mother again. My conversion to the church was easy because everything I learned from the missionaries, I believed to be true. I knew growing up that God existed, but it wasn't until after meeting with the missionaries, going to church, reading the scriptures, and praying that I truly came to know that God was my Father in Heaven and that He loved me. In fact, He loved me so much that He gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ to die for me. I am a Mormon today because I chose to be Mormon and because it's all true. God lives. He is our Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ is His son and my personal Savior. Joseph Smith was a true Prophet and through him, the Church of Jesus Christ was restored. The Book of Mormon is true. It is another testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a Christian, I try to live my life as a true follower of Jesus Christ. I try to serve in my community as often as I can and I try to help those in need. I have served as a volunteer soccer coach for my daughter's soccer team for over 5 years and I have really enjoyed teaching the girls the importance of teamwork, diligence, and always having a positive attitude. My hope is that these principles will help them not only on the field, but off the field as well. I have also served in many callings in church that have allowed me to serve others, lead and teach. Currently, my calling as a Ward Missionary gives me an opportunity to help others to know how to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends and neighbors. One of the important aspects of Christ's ministry was to help others to know Him and His Gospel. He faced significant opposition up until His death, but He remained faithful until the end knowing he was doing what was right. I hope to follow Christ's example and help others to come unto Christ even in the face of opposition because I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true.
