Hi I'm Gary

I love: my family, the outdoors, and coaching. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married dad of four kids. I love the outdoors, coaching youth, and my FAMILY. I currently work as a project engineer for a local plant.

Why I am a Mormon

Well ... I learned about the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) from my parents as a child. However during my teenage years I had to find out for myself if the teachings of the church are true. The three teachings I wanted to know about were: is the Book of Mormon true scripture, was Joseph Smith a true prophet of God, and is the church true? I studied the teachings, read the book, and prayed to know if they are true. Many times I felt the spirit in my heart tell me that they are true. I decided then to follow the teachings of the church the best that I can. I have not been perfect by any means but these teachings have made me very happy. I guess the one other main teaching that really influenced my decision is that I could be married to my best friend in the temple - not just for this life but after death also. I love my wife and kids and they mean the world to me.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by doing. I think that believing is one thing but to do something shows true faith. In other words: work will work when wishy washy wishing won't. First and foremost I am a husband and father where I try to stay involved in the lives of my wife and children. I really look forward to spending time with them and we set aside Monday evenings to do things as a family. I have enjoyed working with the youth of the church and community in youth group activities, the scouting organization, and coaching various sports. Nothing like going winter camping in several feet of snow. Currently I am working with a men’s organization in the church that watches over the families of the church with specific attention to the single sisters and widows. I have learned to love those sisters and they have taught me many things. They are great at being thankful for their blessings even when they have many health and other struggles.
