Hi I'm David

I’m a husband, a father, and a patent attorney. I grew up in Pennsylvania. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

As a father of three young children, my favorite pastime is sharing adventures with my family. Lately those have included touring Southern Colorado, camping in the Rockies, and watching the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo. When I have some personal time I enjoy reading (mostly historical non-fiction), dabbling on the piano, singing, and flying radio-control airplanes (or, when occasion permits, real airplanes).

Why I am a Mormon

I've belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. As a result, I was taught at a young age that I am a literal child of a loving Father in Heaven, that I can speak to Him in prayer, and that He answers prayers. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ today because I've received confirmation over and over and over again, in response to prayer and through unsolicited thoughts and feelings, that the gospel principles I've been taught are true. As a result, I know that God the Father has prepared a plan of happiness and salvation for his children, whereby we can experience joy in this life and then return, with our families, to His presence. I know that Jesus Christ is the center of that plan, and that through Christ we can find strength, comfort, healing, and peace. I know that God has called a prophet in our day--just as in biblical times--who teaches about the Savior and the plan, who warns of spiritual danger, and who helps us recognize those choices that will bring lasting happiness. I know from my own experience that the prophet speaks the truth. As I've done my best to make the right choices--imperfectly, of course--I've been the recipient of continuous blessings. Those blessings are not limited to religious progression, but have made meaningful differences at home, at school, at work, and in all other aspects of my life. I've come to know that no matter the trial that I face, and no matter whether I succeed or fail in any particular endeavor, I remain a child of the greatest Being in the universe, and he will not forsake me. That knowledge gives me confidence to get through life's challenges and inspires gratitude for the blessings I receive.

How I live my faith

While I've had responsibilities at Church ranging from choir director to Sunday School teacher, most recently I've been asked to work with the full-time missionaries to help find and teach interested persons not of our faith about the truths and commandments that have brought so much happiness to my life. This effort yields rich rewards--to see the joy that comes to a person's life after they receive and understand those truths, and start to live their lives in harmony with them, is an experience unlike any other.
