Hi I'm Darren

I grew up in the country, but now I'm a city dweller. I love to ride my bicycle. I'm a husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a corporate finance professional who specializes in analytical visualization for a large corporation. When I'm not working I love to spend time with my family of 7. I've been in love with my wife since I was 16. She is my best friend and the person that makes everything better in my life. I don't know what I would do without her. Due to my busy schedule, I don't get to spend as much time at home as I would like, but my my identity is truly wrapped up in them. They are the greatest thing in my world. When not working or spending time with my kids, I love to ride my bicycle. I'm not very fast, but I love the feeling of the air passing over me as I speed down the road. I enjoy it not only for the exercise, but also because it allows to me to step away from my busy life to think. I have spent many hours on my bike thinking about some of the most important things in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints, but that is not the reason why I say I'm a Mormon. When I was in high school, it become important to me to determine for myself whether I believed in the church and it's doctrine or not. Because I had a such a strong desire to know, I started listening more intently to the lessons at church and started to study the gospel with an increased fire. I remember that I often would read the scriptures late into the night and then I would kneel down and ask Heavenly Father if what I was reading was true. I remember one night as I did this, my heart became full with the Holy Ghost in such a way that I knew that the Heavenly Father was telling me that this gospel, his gospel, was true and that I needed to follow. That experience propelled me with a desire to serve a full time mission for the church and has been one of the most important events in my life. When ever difficult things happen, I can always go back to that experience to remember that I'm loved by my Heavenly Father and that the gospel is true. The gospel has been such a guidance in my life, but having the knowledge that our Savior, Jesus Christ, dead for the sins of mankind, is the doctrine that means the most to me. I have made many mistakes in my life, but having the knowledge that because of Christ's sacrifice for me, I can be forgiven and someday return to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I've had my opportunities to serve, within and without the church. Within the church I have worked with youth as they work to grow their faith. I have been a leader different groups which allowed me to pray often for others which strengthened my faith in my Heavenly Father. Most recently I have been a support of the full time missionaries in the area that I live in. This has allowed me to meet with many people who are seeking for truth and faith in their lives. I have enjoyed sharing my experiences with these people, which in turn has increased my faith as well. One of my favorite ways to serve is being a Sunday School teacher. I love to prepare and teach these lessons and discuss with the class how my Heavenly Father has blessed my life.
