Hi I'm Teresa

I'm SoCal girl living it up in the Mile High City and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into a large Southern California family as a member of the church. As the 5th of 10 children I was right in the middle of all the madness. I loved growing up in SoCal and the experiences I had there guided my life to where I am today. After High School I went to college at BYU and also served a full time mission for my church in the Philippines. After returning home, I went back to school and I finished my B.A. in business management. I have been working in the insurance brokerage industry for about 10 years now for a small Southern California firm. I have been lucky enough to work from a home office for the past 5 years here in Colorado. However, in July we had our second baby girl so I have recently stopped working full-time. Though I will occasionally work part time when I am able, my main focus is on raising our growing family. My husband and I moved to Colorado about a year after we were married and haven't looked back. Though we miss the beach and the great weather back in Southern California, we are enjoying Colorado and all it has to offer. We enjoy biking, running, hiking, and visiting the local resort cities when possible. Our little girls keep us very busy and for now our life pretty much consists of Disney Princesses and a whole lot of PINK!

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was a member of the Mormon Church and we grew up going to church weekly. She was a great example of how to live the gospel. I started developing a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ even as early as my childhood and teenage years. Though I was raised in the church I understood the importance of building my own testimony. I started having strong spiritual experiences as a youth/young adult while studying the scriptures and praying. I also surrounded myself with people of similar values and their friendships helped me stay focused on our Savior. Up until shortly before my mission, my father was not a member of the Church. Because I grew up in a part member family I was able to see the contrast between my parents. This showed me the joy that principals of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring to someone’s life. My path in life led me to a Mormon Mission and that experience further solidified my testimony. I know that my testimony is a living thing and needs constant nourishment. I am grateful for all the experiences I have had and know that by focusing on our Savior we will find true joy.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Secretary of the Relief Society program in our ward. The Relief Society is the women’s organization of the church and focuses on strengthening families through service. I also serve as a visiting teacher which allows the opportunity to further serve select women in our ward. I visit them once a month and provide a spiritual lesson, give a listening ear and offer my time and energies to helping enrich their lives. Though I am not perfect at it, I always strive to keep myself doing the important things in life. Reading my scriptures, praying, fasting and service to others offers me plenty of opportunities to live my faith on a daily basis.
