Hi I'm Ted Telford

I'm a Mormon. I am a corporate real estate consultant. I play guitar and am the lead singer in a classic rock cover band.

About Me

My family is the highest priority in my life. I enjoy my job and get satisfaction from succeeding in my career, however I would rather be home doing things with my wife and kids. I graduated from the American Graduate School of International Management in 1995 (fluent in Portuguese) with an MBA/MIM and started working for Intel leading the company's global site selection activity. I currently work for Grant Thornton doing this same type of work for my clients on a consulting basis. Music has always been an important part of my life. I have my own classic rock cover band where I sing lead and play rhythm guitar. The band specializes in high-carb classic rock dance music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. My wife and I built our dream home about 2 years ago, but now that our oldest daughter is in college and our next in line is a senior in high school, we're ready to downsize and simplify our life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a very strong and active Mormon family. Growing up with the Mormon religion as such an integral part of my life, I was very educated and experienced in the Mormon beliefs. As I grew and matured, I realized the importance of choice, and that being a true convert to the gospel of Jesus Christ required effort on my part to not only understand it, but to seek guidance from Heavenly Father to know for myself that it is true. More than anything, I wanted to be happy in my life. I wanted to know where to turn for help and support and to firmly know that the help would be there for me. Through much fasting and prayer and searching the scriptures I came to know in my heart that the principles and ordinances taught by and found inthe Mormon church were inspired by Heavenly Father and would provide that peace of mind and happiness that I was searching for. Now that I'm a father of five children and have been happily married for 20 years, this testimony has grown as has my gratitude for having found Heavenly Father's path for me.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday School class on Sundays to the adults in my ward (Gospel Doctrine.) As a priesthood holder, i often have the opportunity to serve other members in my ward by visiting and counseling with them as a "home teacher" and giving blessings of healing and comfort to them when needed. As a home teacher, I am assigned 3 to 4 families in our ward which I visit with each month. In my visits I get to know them and become their friend. I also share a short inspirational message and identify any needs that they may need help with. Giving blessings of healing or comfort involves literally placing my hands on someone's head and acting in the name of Jesus Christ. I've had many special experiences doing this. In addition to my Sunday "calling" as a teacher, i'm occasionally asked to provide service in other ways such as helping to clean the church building, help other members either move in, or move out of their homes, drive and participate with the youth in scout or other activities, etc.
