Hi I'm Jon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have four children. The oldest are 12 year old twins and we have an 8 year old and a 5 year old. We have lived in Colorado for 6 years and enjoy swimming in the summer and snow skiing in the winter.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church but I still had to gain my own conviction that the LDS church is true. As a teenager, I recognized the value of the teachings that the church provides such as avoiding harmful substances like tobacco and alcohol, but it wasn't until I served a mission that I developed a strong belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. While I was serving a mission in Brazil for two years I developed a testimony, or conviction, that the church is true. I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon and Bible are the word of God and that we have a living prophet on the earth today. As a husband and father I see the blessings that the gospel brings into our lives. In this day and age, many negative influences, such as violence, pornography, and drug abuse, tear families apart. The gospel of Jesus Christ provides a road map to navigate through these challenges and helps us know how to best teach our children to avoid those things that can be harmful both physically and spiritually.

How I live my faith

In the church, I work with a group of men who are usually young fathers. As a quorum we have Sunday lessons about gospel topics, we have occasional social activities outside of church, and we look for opportunities to serve others. We also have a home teaching program in which we visit the families from our congregation to provide short spiritual lessons and to stay in touch with any needs they might have. If a family that I home teach were to need something, like meals after a family member had surgery, then I would coordinate those efforts to ensure their needs are met. The home teaching program is a wonderful way for church members to help care for other members.
