Hi I'm Kenny

I'm an idealistic and overworked law student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied Humanities and Film during my undergrad. I took opportunities in college to volunteer and work with low income families from my community throughout (and after) college, and these experiences made me extremely interested in public interest law and human rights. I am currently studying law at the University of Georgia. I'm also the luckiest guy on earth because I married my best friend in 2010.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Georgia, my first personal exposure to scriptures came form reading the New Testament. This experience helped me gain an understanding of my Savior, Jesus Christ and develop a personal relationship with Him. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I was amazed at how much the Church helped that relationship grow even stronger, so I stuck around. When I was 18, I decided that I needed to know for sure if this Church was everything it claims to be. I had serious questions. Is the leader of this church really a prophet, just like Peter, Moses, or Noah? Is the Book of Mormon really another book of scripture? Did Joseph Smith really see God and did God really command him to restore his true church to the earth? These types of questions couldn't be answered by my family friends or church leaders, at least not in the way I needed them answered. I needed to know what the Lord thought. I still had a strong relationship with Him, and so with humble heart and with faith that prayers are heard and answered, I asked Heavenly Father if these things were true. Unfortunately, there isn't enough space here to go into detail about how the Lord answered my prayers. Suffice it to say, just as the Lord spoke to Elijah in Kings 19:11-12, I came to know with an absolute certainty that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. I know that through Joseph Smith, Christ restored His true Church to the earth, the same church he set up when he was here on the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it goes hand in hand with the Bible in convincing the world that Jesus is the Christ. I know that the current leader of this church, Thomas Monson, is really a prophet of God, and that the Lord reveals his will and his gospel through him for the benefit of all his children.

How I live my faith

To me, living your faith means making choices regarding what you do, who you are, and who you want to become that are influenced by the principles you believe in. That means that I take time to pray and study the scriptures, alone and with my family on a daily basis. It means that I take time to go to church services and to serve other members of the church as well as people in my community. Most importantly, it means that in everything I do I am trying to become more like my Savior Jesus Christ.
