Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a first grade teacher. I live in Colorado. I love spending time with my children. I love to laugh and have fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have two children. We love to play together and do fun things. As a family we love to read books, ride bikes and watch movies together. We always eat dinner together as a family. My daughter says, "Families that eat together, stay together!" My husband, Jon, works a crazy schedule so we do fun things when he is home. We like to go to museums and go hiking when he is not at work. This summer we went camping twice. It was a great way to spend time with just our family without the craziness of our busy lives. Smores and dutch oven cooking really brings a family together. I teach first grade. I love to watch my students grow and change as the year progresses. Each day the students learn something. They get excited. Their faces light up when they understand new things. When they realize they can read or do math, it changes them and they want to do more. That is why I love being a teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Nevada where being a Mormon was not that difficult, The small town where I lived was full of Mormons and it was easy to follow the gospel and choose the right. When I got married and moved to Germany first with my husband and then onto Colorado, I had to decide that I wanted to stay close to the church. I decided that being a member of the church helped me to stay focused and live what I had been taought as a young girl. Throughout my life, there has been challenges and struggles that make me stop and wonder what I am doing wrong. But it is the gospel that brings the peace back into my life. I read the scriptures and say my prayers to help me stay on track. When I feel overwhelmed and burdened I know that I am not alone, I get on my knees and ask the Lord to help me be strong. When I go to church on Sunday, I feel strengthened throughout the week. It is as if my lantern has been refilled.

How I live my faith

I am very involved in church. My kids are part of the youth group and we go to church at least once during the week so they can participate in the youth or scouts groups. I live my life so I can be an example for my children. I go to church every Sunday to refill my spiritual need. My home is a place where there is peace and comfort. My children love to bring friends to our home so that they can feel our love for one another. It is not only on Sunday that I choose to live high standards but every day. I go to work (school) and feel the spirit as I teach. The teachers that I work with know who I am and watch out for me as well because they know what to expect. Each week, while I am at school, I stand up for what I believe and live my standards. People know that I have high standards and they respect that.
