Hi I'm Justin

I love good music. I'm a Brother, Son, Husband and Father. I enjoy skiing. I'm an eye doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Most importantly I am a lucky Husband to a wonderful woman who is my best friend and always will be. She and I have one daughter and three boys. I often tell my colleagues, friends and patients that we have "good kids". They are helpful, respectful, and kind to others (except of course for the occasional sibling rivalry). It has always been important to me to be a good Father. This takes consistent work and effort but it is worth it! My kids and I have a "Daddy Day" set aside on the calendar day of their birthday each month where we get to spend one-on-one time with each other. Together we sometimes snag some ice-cream, go to the church to fulfill my responsibilities, play a game, walk and talk, or ride bikes. It doesn't always have to take a long time but has made a big difference in helping me keep a personal relationship with the oldest to the youngest. It also gives my wife small breaks where she has only three to keep track of three instead of four. I am an Optometrist in a group practice with a sub-specialty in pediatric eye-care. It has been a privilege to find a career that I thoroughly enjoy and to work with my patients in our beautiful area. Music has always been a part of my life and has helped shaped who I am. The right song at the right time can be a wonderful source of inspiration. Skiing is a great break and stress reliever for me. I always look forward to the pure white snowy sights, crisp frozen carving sounds, and meeting new people on the lifts.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because the teachings of Christ constantly provide a guide for my life. My faith has brought me joy and peace even when things are difficult or times are hard. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I firmly believe that he has made it possible for each of us, personally, to be free from mistakes, sins, pain, and illness. It is comforting to me to feel that Christ is my Brother and Friend. I believe in giving of oneself in kindness. I believe in forgiveness. I believe in friendship. I believe that our relationships and friendships do not end after this life but continue forever. The most simple and beautiful truth I treasure is that each of us are Brothers and Sisters, the children of Father in Heaven, and I strive to remember this conviction in the way I treat others. I am not perfect at this but this truth acts as a reminder of how I want to act and who I want to become. As a child I attended Church with my family. I remember one day as a young 7-9 year old boy I was singing in our local chapel during a church service one day. The song is entitled "Because I Have Been Given Much". As I sang the words to that song a strong spiritual feeling came over me that I will never forget. Somehow I came to know at a young age that my Heavenly Father is real and that he cares for us and so we should care for and about each other. Other experiences in my life where I have felt this feeling, the guidance of the God's Holy Spirit, have inspired me and given me hope.

How I live my faith

I try to take time everyday to pray and pause to think of spiritual things. As a family we have made it a habit to read scriptures and pray together every morning. Just as importantly, we try to spend time with each other, support each other, and have fun together. I attend worship services each Sunday with my family. I give time and effort to help prepare our Church services. Sometimes I have the opportunity to prepare and give spiritual messages in these meetings which I enjoy because it is helpful for me to learn more about the scriptures and my beliefs. I enjoy singing in our Church choir and other events. I enjoy getting to know the people around me better and feel lucky to have other good influences around me and my family. As a physician I try to show my patients that I care about them. I get to help with our youth group - we have lots of fun and I think it is great that the teenagers have a comfortable, safe environment where they can enjoy themselves. They are some of my most cherished friends. My wife and I like to support good causes in the community. We support our children's school. We have helped make trails in local parks and try to give time to friends and neighbors when we see a need. Others are often kind to us. Each year I get to participate in a bike event that my office supports to help raise funds for our local hospital.
