Hi I'm Shawn

I live in Arizona with my beautiful wife and four wonderful children. We are all members of the Mormon faith.

About Me

I am the third child of seven children and was born and raised in Utah until the age of eleven. At that time my father was asked to oversee 180 missionaries in Japan for a period of three years. So, my parents took us seven children to Japan for three years. This was an incredible experience for me. We returned home to Salt Lake City where I graduated from Brighton High School. I then attended BYU for a year before serving my own mission to none else than - JAPAN! I was so excited to be able to go back to the land and people that I learned to love. After serving for two years, I returned to BYU and finished an undergraduate and Masters in Accounting. I married while going to school and moved my family to Arizona after graduation to work in the family business - building homes. I worked there for twelve years and then started some businesses of my own. I am a CPA and work with many clients preparing their financial statements and tax returns along. My wife and I have four wonderful children. They bring so much happiness to us. I enjoy golfing and playing board games with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family where going to church each Sunday was a way of life. More importantly, I was raised in a family where living the teachings of Jesus Christ each day was a way of life. As a young child, I quickly learned that not all families were this way. Many homes did not have the teachings of Jesus Christ. I recognized the happiness and peace from living a life founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ. As I read the Bible and Book of Mormon as a youth, I came to know that the teachings found therein were true. This knowledge came from undeniable feelings from God. I knew that He was speaking to me and telling me that the scriptures were His word. I decided that living this kind of life - being a Mormon - was what I wanted and was what God wanted for me. From the Bible and Book of Mormon we learn that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father and that we can someday live with Him again. It is the teachings of Jesus Christ that show us the way to return our Heavenly Father. It is my hope and desire that everyone enjoy this same knowledge that I do and that we all have the same opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by adhering to the teachings of Jesus Christ. His teachings are found in the Bible, the Book of Mormon and the words of living prophets on the earth today. A life of living the teachings of Jesus Christ involves everyday living. It is so much more than attending meetings on Sunday. We read the scriptures together as a family each day. We pray together. We worship together. In all that we do, we try to emulate the life that Jesus Christ lived. In our church, we are given opportunities to serve each other by planning activities, teaching lessons and doing acts of service for one another. In these ways, we do the things that Jesus did and we become more like Him in the process.
