Hi I'm Martin

I'm a real estate entrepreneur. I enjoy life even in my physical limitatons of Muscular Dystrophy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my teen years I was athletic and competitive, but I noticed I was getting weaker. I went to the doctor for some tests and found that I had Muscular Dystrophy. For a long time, I had a hard time dealing with it emotionally. Eventually, I made up my mind that if I couldn’t compete physically through sports, that I would compete mentally by pushing myself to my maximum capacity. The Church gave me an opportunity to serve a two-year mission, where I worked as hard as I could, every day. This experience has been a blessing to me throughout my life. As a young married man, my wife and I sold everything we had to go to Europe to do financial consulting. Because of determination, drive, and blessings from the Lord, we were able to be successful. My passion is real estate. After returning from Europe, I found that I enjoy taking old historic buildings, keeping the old world charm, and giving them a modern twist. Despite my physical limitations, I have been successful doing something that requires a lot of physical labor. The Lord has blessed me. My wife and I live on a lake and we own several pieces of real estate, both commercial and residential. I also enjoy using my knowledge to help other people become successful. Rather than look on my disability as a weakness, the gospel has given me the perspective that my life has been blessed because of my physical limitations.

Why I am a Mormon

Through the Church, I have come to know Jesus Christ. The Savior is my anchor. It is because of my relationship with Him that I enjoy the Spirit of the Lord. The foundation that the gospel has brought me has helped my wife and me raise our four children. There are so many aspects of the gospel that help in this effort, in raising a family in such a troubled world. The gospel brings me peace, hope, and happiness.

How I live my faith

Every aspect of my life is built around helping others because of the way the Lord has blessed me. I truly believe that, “when you do it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” I love serving our Savior by serving others. Every day I look for opportunity to serve—whether it be my wife, children, grand children, family, friends in and out of the gospel, even strangers—in that way I feel I’m serving the Lord. When working, I feel I am a steward over the things the Lord has blessed me with and try to be guided by the Spirit, so I may glorify His Name. Our Heavenly Father lives. Jesus is the Christ. His atonement is real.
