Hi I'm Nick

I am a dad of 4 boys living in Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are raising 4 young boys in Colorado. I'm a CPA and have worked in the community for over 10 years. I lived for 2 years in Brazil on a church mission and found great joy serving and working with the people there. I grew up in Arizona and Virginia and continue to enjoy anything around water. I enjoy being near the Rocky Mountains and hiking and camping in the great outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

Raising 4 young boys is not easy in this world today. With so many things to do and directions to go, it is tough sometimes to know what is the best thing to do. I have found that being a Mormon gives me the direction I need in my personal life and especially with my family. Knowing who I am and the purpose of life and of families helps me lead my family in a way that brings happiness. As I search the scriptures and keep the commandments, I have found that I and my family have been greatly blessed. Change is usually not easy, but being a Mormon has given me the insight and help to change and progress towards who and what I need to be. This has helped me be a better husband and father. Of course I'm not perfect, but the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me know what direction I should steer my life to be closer to Heavenly Father. One specific area that has helped me lately is prayer. I have found there is great power in praying to my Heavenly Father and that he listens to my prayers on behalf of my family and loved ones. Blessings don't usually come in a way I expect, but looking back upon specific situations, I can see the power and blessing that prayer has brought.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving others in the community. I have always had a special love for the youth today and have worked directly with the youth, either through Boy Scouts or other activities, for the past many years. I find that youth today have a keen awareness of the world around them and what is right and wrong. They are strong and stand up for the right. I also live my faith through specific family activities. We pray before meals and in the morning before school and before bedtime. We also read the scriptures together after dinner. Another thing my family does is have a set aside night to just be together as a family. During this night, we may have a lesson geared towards something specific that the kids need to learn or we may just have a fun activity. I have found these three areas have increased the love and togetherness of my family. I also pray and read the scriptures daily on an individual level. Even when traveling for work, which I do my fair share of, I find that my day is better and I am more focused on what I need to be doing when I pray and read the scriptures. I also try to find at least one opportunity to serve another person every day. Most of the time, this is just a small item of service, but I find that when I forget myself and help others, I feel happier.
