Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a member of the baby boomer generation and a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was raised in a small mining town in eastern Arizona. Growing up I was able to hike the hills and was involved in the Boy Scouts. I have a love for God’s creations and the beauty of the outdoors. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and six children. Each of my children are contributors to our society they work hard and I am very proud of them. I have eighteen grandchildren which keep me busy. They are truly a blessing from above. Having worked in the telecommunications industry for over forty years I have seen great advancements in communications from four digit dialing on a rotary dial phone to eleven digit IP addresses over gigabit Ethernet. What a great time to live with all the blessings of a modern age. I truly feel fortunate and bless.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a large family of boys. My grandfather was a minister in one religion, my mother was of a different religion, and other members of my family had various opinions about which religion or no religion was right. To me as a young boy it was a mass of confusion. I had a Bible and always believed in God and after looking at different churches I finally joined one that my stepmother liked. I always figured all churches had some truth in then and when I got married if my wife had a preference we would go to the church she wanted so there would be unity in our family. At college I had a roommate that was preparing to go on a Mormon mission. He took me to meetings at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I started taking the missionary lessons. The missionaries used the King James Bible which I was used to and had additional scripture The Book of Mormon which was another witness of Jesus Christ. I studied and read the information given me and I knew it was true by a witness of the Spirit. Once I knew it was true I joined the Lord’s Church. Over the years I have nurtured this little mustard seed of truth by reading, praying, and studying the Lord’s Gospel. My testimony of it has been made sure as I have felt the truthfulness of the doctrines of Christ as taught by modern and ancient apostles and prophets.

How I live my faith

Each day I strive in my own weak way to live according to the things I have learned in the scriptures and from modern day prophets and apostles. I realize I am far from perfect but have knowledge of Christ and His atonement and the plan He has for each of His children. His plan is one of progression to be better today than I was yesterday. When I fall I pick myself up, repent if I need to, and get back on the straight and narrow path to Christ.
