Hi I'm John

I own a thriving business that helps other businesses grow. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City but grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I served a mission for the church in Asia. I went to the University of Utah, UNLV and BYU. I moved to Texas 30 years ago when I graduated from college. I worked in public accounting for 12 years, before I left to become a partner in another firm. Over the past 16 years, that firm has grown in to a diversified administrative services organization with nearly 18,000 worksite employees at over 700 client locations. I married my high school sweetheart. We have four children. Three are grown and gone. Only one is on a church mission in Malaga, Spain. l spend my free time with family. We enjoy basketball, boating and the beach.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the church in Denmark and later immigrated to the United States. She married outside the church, but I was exposed to its teachings by other family members and neighbors. I was baptized by my uncle when I was nine. I was active in the youth program for a time, but then rebelled and stopped going. During my period of inactivity, I felt I was missing something. My conscience was prodding me to return. A caring Bishop and a faithful girlfriend helped. I returned and was given many opportunities to learn and serve. I decided to serve a mission. I felt I knew the church was true and that I had a duty to share the gospel message. While in the language training center, I had an even greater desire to know that what I was doing was right. I prayed fervently to know that the Book of Mormon was true and that I was involved in a holy work. One night, while engaged in prayer, I received my answer. I felt a burning in my bosom I had never felt before. I was convinced that God knew me and supported my missionary efforts. I have had the opportunity to feel that same spirit many times since in my life. I know that God lives, that Jesus is the Christ and that the LDS Church is a restoration of his original church.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the church over the years. I now preside over eleven congregations and provide support and training to the leaders of those units. My wife and I also teach a group of young single adults every Thursday night. In the past I worked with the boy scouts, including a group of Asian scouts, and now serve on the board of the local scout council. I also served as the Bishop of a local congregation. In the community I chair an interfaith clergy association. I am the only one with a regular job too. I also serve on the national board of my profession's trade association. Most of my peers know that I am a Mormon. I don't drink or smoke and I am intensely loyal to my wife and family.
