Hi I'm Nate

I'm an Agent unto myself. I'm Determined. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, i have four older brothers, I love Mexican food(real Mexican food). I played rugby in high school, and went to nationals, which was an awesome experience. I also did debate (Lincoln-Douglas), which taught me a lot. I love art, and my favorite part of art is sketching. Sketching brings a lot of peace, and a feeling of relaxation into my life. I've served a mission in Virginia for my church and it was great. I love to learn the world around me. Along with secular knowledge i also love to learn of spiritual things. And i do this by scripture study, and by this i can learn the nature of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Something that this church teaches is called the doctrine of Christ which is 1) To have Faith in Jesus Christ. To know that he died for our sins, and to know that he has felt each and every one of our afflictions, but by following his example we can be made clean through his atoning sacrifice. 2) Is Repentance, which is a process. When we make a wrong choice that is not pleasing to our Heavenly Father we feel bad for what we did, and want to change and make the right choice for God, and for ourselves.3) Once we have repented of our sins, we are then to follow the example of Christ and be baptized by that priesthood authority of God just as he was. And after we are baptized we are then able to partake of the sacrament weekly to remember our covenants made at baptism and renew them. 4) After we are baptized we receive the Holy Ghost as a new member of Christ's church, This holy spirit is to help guide and direct our lives at all times that we are worthy of it. He helps us maintain strength by guiding us spiritually. 5)After we have done all this we are to take this process and live it for the rest of our lives, and with it endure to the end. These teachings are what told me through that same holy spirit that this is true. I have come to have a testimony of this Gospel, and for the Atoning sacrifice that the savior went through. I know we have our agency to fully live his Gospel or to reject it and live how we might want to. But true and lasting happiness and joy will only come from living the principles taught in his divinely restored Gospel. God is omnipotent. We can be healed by his son Jesus Christ. We just have to be willing to follow him to our best in order for his cleansing power to have effect on us. This is my sure witness in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by striving to become a doer of the word and not just a hearer of the word only, I know as our understanding of the Atonement of the Savior increases our desire to do His will increases also.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Nate
I think Elder Holland said it best in his missionary training devotional of December 2010 "that we are living in a world that is getting farther and farther away from Christian commitment." If we think of earlier times students began to learn to read by reading from the Bible. But today the world is getting to the point where it is disregarding religion altogether in schools. And in so doing the world can lower its view or importance of God. But we know that God is the same yesterday today and forever, that His Gospel doesn't lower its Eternal Standards. We as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or Commonly known as Mormons, i think are ultimately called a cult because the worlds standard of Christianity has been steadily decreasing, and to the rest of the world the diligent ways we strive to live can seem extreme or unorthodox.
