I'm a Mormon. My ancestors lived in Nauvoo near Joseph Smith and one was with Brigham Young entering the Salt Lake Valley

About Me

My dear wife and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple 49 years ago. We have 6 wonderful children (+ their 6 mates we also consider as our children) and 16 grandchildren. We moved to Minnesota right after graduate Business School in 1965 with an undergraduate degree in Math & Physics. Was a Senior VP of an Insurance Company and on the Board of a Wall Street Mutual Fund, and at the same time served in the Church as a (non-paid) Bishop over a congregation and then a Stake President working with 12 Bishops. We love serving the Savior Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father and His children here on Earth. I still love sports - play basketball & swim at the YMCA and tennis at a club in Minneapolis.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon Church. My ancesters were with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. But I studied the Bible and Book of Mormon and gained a Spiritual witness that The Church of Jesus Christ was restored to the Earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. That God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and told him the true church was not on the Earth and would be restored. Peter James and John the ancient Apostles came as resurrected angels and layed their hands on Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdry and restored the Holy Apostleship again to the Earth. The Spirit of the Lord has reconfirmed that over and over again through my life.

How I live my faith

We try to live our faith each and every day - with family prayer, read from the scriptures and striving to be honest and good citizens. I strive to be a person on integrity. My life has been filled with service in the Church. In the middle of college, before we were married, I served a full time Mission for 2 years in Virginia and North Carolina. After moving to Minnesota, some evenings & weekends after working at my paid job, served as a non-paid Bishop over a congregation for 5 yrs and then as a Stake President for 9+ years working with 12 Bishops. Then 14 years helping Stake Presidents in the central states and Canada. My wife and I had the privelege of serving full time for 3 years as President of the Boise Idaho Mission - working with 180+ at a time (nearly 500 total) young men and some young women taking time out of college to serve 2 year missions at their own expense. Following that, we served full time as President & wife in the St Paul Temple of the Church in Minnesota. In the Temple, couples are married for Time & All Eternity rather than just "until death do you part". And families are Sealed together (parents and their children) for Eternity.
