Hi I'm Crissie

I'm a wife and mother of three kids. I'm a piano teacher, a dessert lover, a blogger, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 3rd oldest of 10 kids. I loved growing up in a large family. My siblings are my best friends. At age 20, I married my sweetheart who also came from a family of 10 kids! It's hard to believe that we've been married for 21 years now! We have 3 wonderful kids who are growing up fast and keep us busy at all times. I received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Education when I was in my 20's, but decided to be a stay at home mom which has been a tremendous blessing to me. I taught piano for over 20 years and love that I'm able to teach my own kids...someday they'll thank me for it. :) I love collecting recipes and will admit that 75% of my recipes are desserts. I love to organize and I love containers!! My husband teases me everytime I come home with more containers. I love to blog about the teachings of the church and even started a blog 2 years ago in an effort to share with others the blessings of the gospel and to help others understand the truth about Mormons.

Why I am a Mormon

Most people would assume that I am a Mormon because I was born and raised in the church. Although I feel that it was a blessing to be raised in the church, that is not why I continue to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I choose to be a member because the doctrines that are taught make sense to me and feel right to me. But more importantly, I belong to the church because Heavenly Father has so graciously testified to me through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon and the doctrines taught therein are indeed His word. I belong to this church because the teachings and doctrines of the church center around Jesus Christ, our Savior. I've learned that when I follow the teachings of the church, God blesses me with a great peace in my life. To me this is God's way of telling me that what I'm doing is good and comes from Him. I would not trade that peace for anything! We live in a world full of turmoil and confusion. Life is a challenge. The peace that I feel from following the teachings of the church is what keeps me going in this difficult world that we live in.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actively participating in church service. One of the things that I love about the church is the opportunities it gives to serve in so many different capacities. All of the callings (service positions in the church) that I've had in the past 20 years have helped me grow and learn in so many different ways. I'm grateful for these opportunities. For many years, I served in various positions in the children's organization (Primary). Teaching children the gospel is so very rewarding. Recently however, I was asked to serve as the leader of the women's organization (Relief Society) in our local congregation. This also has been very rewarding. It's a blessing to serve the women in our church and help them become nearer to God and Jesus Christ. Although church service is very important, I feel that my most important calling is that of a mother. I am far from being a perfect mother, and we are far from having a perfect family, but I certainly try the best I can to teach my family the gospel of Jesus Christ.
