I'm a Mormon, a Husband, a Father, and a Grandfather. I'm retired from two professions, now working part time in several others.

About Me

I spent 6 years in the US Air Force which included time at the 6924th Security Squadron at Danang, Vietnam. After coming home I worked almost 30 years as a Mechanical/Electrical Technician for Michelin Tire Corp at Greenville South Carolina. We lived near the plant before moving 35 miles away to my Wife's home town of Honea Path. We had 4 children and about 30 foster children over the years. We now have been married for 44 years, with 4 children, 9 Grands with three more that call me Grand-daddy.

Why I am a Mormon

I had a conflict in my life with smoking and drinking and being half the world away from my family. I sought out someone to talk with and found a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I loved Jesus, but I wasn't living the Gospel. Quickly I fell in love with the logic of the church and then with the people. After moving from Vietnam to Germany, My wife and I were baptized at Darmstadt, Germany.

How I live my faith

My wife and I try to be good Christians, living with and treating others as the Savior would. We do volunteer work for the Church and the comunity. We try to teach our family the inportance of the gospel though that is proving to be a struggle. They are grown and going in thirty directions just as we did at that age.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

As "Mormons", we are often misunderstood. We worship God our heavenly father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. All you have to do to find out if what we say is true, is read the Book of Mormon, visit the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and most important, Pray to your Heavenly Father and ask Him if what you are learning is the truth. Open your heart to the Holy Ghost's promptings. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom was given as just that, Words of Wisdom. The revelation was given when little was known about the harmful effects if coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. Remember at that time even cocaine and many other such drugs were offered on the street and in the local pharmacy. Many now know about these things and many are now controlled are just plain illegal. Those who follow the Word of Wisdom have better general health but there is even more to look forward to. We feel we are following the teaching of someone we believe is a prophet. We don't use Alcohol, Tobacco, Coffee and tea, and illegal drugs because someone se believe is a prophet asked us not to use them. Show more Show less
