Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Mormon. I'm a father of four with eight grandchildren. I grew up in Idaho. I'm a Rotarian and former Scout Master.

About Me

I enjoy fly fishing and golf. I like to putter around the house and the garage shop. I enjoy serving others through the Boy Scouts of America and service clubs like Rotary International whose motto is "service above self" and the Lions Club whose motto is "we serve". I love to be with my family, my children and their families. My wife and I enjoy traveling and good food. I enjoy boating and driving the kids while they are water-skiing. I love being in the mountains and smelling the fresh pines. It makes me feel closer to my Heavenly Father. I also enjoy a nice unpopulated beach and snorkeling with my wife. I like to go to dinner dances, not that I'm a good dancer but I enjoy watching those who are. I enjoy a good concert every now and then. Good music can range from country to jazz and most in-between except I'm not into heavy metal or rap. I also enjoy the classics of the 70's and some good ol Frank Sinatra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir always sets the tone for the Saboth Day. Poetry is fun even country poetry.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've had so many experiences that give me a testimony that the LDS Church is the only true church of God here on the earth. These experiences come over time but I have faith that we are not left to our own while we are here on the earth. I believe that God guides us and gives us opportunity to make choices that will enable us to return to live with Him some day. If we choose to make the right choices we are blessed and progress. If we make the wrong choices we do not receive the blessings. I known that we are given the Book of Mormon to help us know what is right and to testify of Jesus Christ. I am humbled that the Son of God would care enough about me to come down and pay my debt for my sins that through repentance I can use that atonement to make myself clean to return to live with my family and our Heavenly Father forever. I know that we have a living Prophet to lead us and guide us today and that he is supported by 12 apostles.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have tried to show I love the Lord by living my faith through service in the church and community. In the church I've served as a youth leader and Sunday school teacher. I visit member families and am responsible to visit three families each month and report back on their well being. I also help them whenever they need it. I've organized events and dinners and have cooked and cleaned up dinners for over 500 members. I've been involved with girls camps and scout camps. I've spoken at meetings and events about gospel subjects and have been able to share my testimony about these important truths. In community service I've served as a city councilman. I've been an EMT and driven the local ambulance. I've served as the president of two Rotary Clubs and a Lions Club as well as serving for many yEars on their Board of Directors. I've served on local hospital advisory boards and on the board of a rural hospital. I've been a chapter chairman for the Red Cross.
