Hi I'm Wesley

I grew up in Salt lake city, I am a student in Economics and Anthropology at the University of Utah and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in Salt Lake City, I have had quite the childhood, I was brought home from the hospital to the house that my parents still live in to this day. I was what you could call a jack of all trades. I love to do just about everything, I love the outdoors, going on drives, hanging out with friends, I have played almost every sport competatively, I build model airplanes and boats, I hunt, I fish, I like to work on my own car, I loved my job making pizza (2 1/2 years!!!), I love hanging out with my fraternity brothers, but most of all, I was born to debate. ever since I could talk, debating was my passion! Most of my early debating was done with my siblings and parents, and believe it or not, it got me into a lot of trouble! That being said, that passion was focused when I joined the debate team in high school. From the start I loved every minute of it, researching, writing, speaking, but it all cullminated in using logic, forming arguments and the end all result, debating! My sophmore and junior years I did pretty well, but the pinnacle of my achievment came with winning 2nd place state debate near the end of my senior year. Not only did I enjoy debate, But I really started to enjoy school. My senior year of high school, I attended Salt Lake Community College full time and graduated with an associates of science a month before I graduated High school. I completed a year at the University of Utah before I left to serve a Mission in Seattle Washington.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was raised in the Faith, I have to admit that being a debater, and using logic and evidence in everything I do, finding faith in Christ hasn't always been the easiest thing to do. After many long nights thinking, researching and trying to better understand my own path and what I believe, I have reached the conclusion that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is the only Religion in the world today to have the full truth as Jesus Christ set up during his ministry on earth. I know with assuredy in my heart that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ, and that he as a prophet of God translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. This testimony or witness to me has helped me so much in my own life. knowing this gives me my true sense of belonging, purpose, and most importantly direction. If nothing else, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the LDS Church have provided My family and I with a Joy that to this day I haven't seen elsewhere. I love the Gospel and my family, and most importantly I know that through Christ, my Family and I can be together forever. I'm a Mormon, because I know that my faith is real, that the church is true, and because it brings me more than just happiness but eternal Joy.

How I live my faith

My faith in Jesus Christ has to be in everything I do. When I do something that I know is wrong or I know doesn't fit with who God wants me to be, I feel Terrible inside. Therefore I do try everyday to live to be the best person I can be. That leads me to want to do service to my God and fellow men. Whether that means that I serve my friends in the community through church service, or I try my best to love my family, it matters not. In the past I have served in various leadership positions like the president of my youth group, or the local area youth representative for my congregation. But all of that cullminated in my eventual choice to serve a mission for the Church. Right now I am serving a mission in the state of Washington. The reason and eventual choice to serve a mission, came from my desire to share the feelings of Joy that I have experienced within my own family with everyone that I see. My Faith isn't something, its everything!
