Hi I'm Becky

I am a stay at home mother of three, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I had been married for a little over a year when we chose to start our family. I have always wanted to be a mother, and was delighted when we found out we were pregnant. I was devastated when we lost our pregnancy at nine weeks on a Christmas Eve. It took us three years and two more miscarriages before we had our first child. The road was not easy, but I know Heavenly Father had a plan for us, and that the time was right when our son joined our family. We have since had three more children, one of whom came easily and the others with a little more effort. As much of a challenge as it is, financially and emotionally, for me to stay home with them, I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I love my children and the joy they bring to me, and I know that teaching them to make good choices and to be kind and compassionate is what I am supposed to do. I love my family, and I also love to be outdoors. Gardening is one of my favorite things to do. I love to make a plan for where to plant things, and to nurture them and watch them grow and flourish and make something beautiful. It is a great analogy for life. I also love hiking and camping. My most recent hobby is to be thrifty and get our family out of debt and save up to buy our dream home. It is rewarding to me to live within our means, put money aside, and be prepared for any financial setbacks- it has taken a great deal of stress out of my life knowing we have a plan for our money.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon, and I am so grateful to them for that. There always comes a time when, as a child, you have to decide for yourself if what your parents are teaching you is true. My time came gradually as a teenager, when I saw how the friends I had made with similar values to mine started slipping away from those values. I had to make a choice to keep on the path of reading scriptures, praying, and enjoying time with those who still shared my values, or going along with what was popular. It was a difficult time, and I grew apart from one of my best friends at the time because of it, but I chose to follow what I had been taught, and I have never regretted it. I know that following the gospel brings me true joy that will never leave me, that it sustains me when I have a hard time, and brings me comfort and peace. I know that my Savior loves me and knows me, personally, my strengths and my flaws, and loves me for everything I am and everything I am trying to be. I know that I would be nothing without His help.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the church. I am involved with the Primary organization in our congregation, which is over the children ages 18 months up to 12 years old. They are so full of energy and life and excitement, it is a joy to serve them. Every Sunday, I am blessed to feel their sweet spirits and to be lifted up by their enthusiasm. I also love spending time with my children, and teaching them stories from the scriptures. It makes me feel so happy when they are learning and can tell me the stories I teach them, that they remember and it makes an impression on them. My favorite time of the day is in the afternoons after I put my children in their rooms for quiet time, and I can settle down by myself for a little while and read my scriptures and the words of the prophets and study them, and write down my reflections on my life. I am not always consistent with it, but I feel so much more centered and calm when I am. I know it makes a difference in my life, and helps me draw closer to the Savior, and understand His teachings and how to apply them in my life. I am not perfect, but when I try my best to follow the Savior's teachings and example, I know I am a better person, and I can help the world be a better place. I know Heavenly Father put us here for a reason, and I am here to help and serve others. There have been times when I have been touched and helped and healed by other people, and I hope to also act as the Lord's hands, and to follow the Spirit when it prompts me to serve others.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?
