Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the second of five children. My parents were baptized just before we were all born. I attended BYU and graduated with an education degree. I met my husband at BYU. I taught school for five years before our four daughters were born. I am lucky to be a stay at home mom right now with two children in school and two at home. I love to run, play the piano and sing. I teach preschool and music lessons. I enjoy watching my children dance and play soccer and running them to their many practices and activities as well as working in their classrooms at school.

Why I am a Mormon

Since my parents joined the church early on, I grew up a member of the Church. I loved attending primary and learning about Heavenly Father and his love for me. I especially loved to sing the primary songs which testify of Him and His truths. I always knew growing up that I was special and I think this was because of the many lessons I learned at church and in family home evenings. As I got older, my faith was tested as I attended middle school and high school with many friends who did not share my beliefs and standards. During this time, I studied the scriptures, prayed and tried to learn all that I could about my own church and about other churches. The more I studied, the more I realized that what I had had my entire life was the truth. I began to understand that the standards I was expected to follow were what made me unique and special and that by embracing them, I could be who I wanted to be in the future. These standards could keep me safe from some of the consequences I could already see happening with some of my friends. I continue to go to church because it fills me up. Each week serving and watching others serve, learning more about our Savior keeps me going. It gives me a sense of purpose, a sense of peace. My testimony has changed through the years, but I have always known that God is our Father and even as a little girl, that I am His daughter. I know that Jesus Christ is his Son and our Savior. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and restored this chirch to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today who leads and guides this Church in the way that Christ would if He were on the Earth. I know that I can be with my family forever. I know that by following the commandments we can be happy. I know that the scriptures are true and that they are a guide for us in our lives. I love the goodness of member of this church and the influences they have had on my life--thier examples make me want to be better.

How I live my faith

I serve in the primary organization right now as a leader working with children ages 2-1 and their primary teachers. I help conduct primary meetings, organize teachers, teach whole group lessons and oversee the cubscout program for the boys in our primary. In addition, I visit three sisters each month as a visiting teacher. I have enjoyed getting to know them and try to help whenever I can when they have needs. I love serving in the church and in my community. I have been a soccer coach, music teacher, and school volunteer. I have worked with the young teenage boys and girls as a teacher, organized activities for teh entire ward, and worked planning activities for just the ladies to attend as well. I enjoy serving others and the satisfaction I feel when I know I am doing what the Lord would have me do.
