Hi I'm Janet

I'm a mother of six children. I'm a retired music therapist for a hospice and a music teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandmother of thirteen, a mother of six, a retired music therapist and teacher and a Mormon. I worked for a local hospice and provided music for the terminally ill. I loved helping others by using music to relieve their feelings of isolation, affirm their life experiences and help them connect with good things in their life. Now that I'm retired from this profession I'm planning to serve a full time mission with my husband. My role as a mother has been the greatest joy in my life. Now, I love seeing my children find fulfillment in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout my life. My father converted to the church after marrying my member mother. They raised me to be an active member of the church and I have always believed the principles taught in the gospel. I was blessed to have the opportunity to grow my testimony from an early age. My parents set a good example for me by living gospel principles, and it was easy for me to believe in a loving Heavenly Father because I was nurtured by loving earthly parents. I believed in the teachings about Jesus Christ from Bible stories I learned in my family and in church meetings. As a young adult I gained my own firm testimony of the truth of The Book of Mormon through study and prayer. The affirmation of the truthfullness of this book of scripture came over time, and is now the keystone of my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because I know The Book of Mormon is a sacred record, preserved and brought forth by the hand of God, I know that Jesus Christ is the reserrected Son of God. He is my Redeemer. I also know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the organization on this earth that administers the ordinances of God with His authority. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and that other prophets have followed in succession, continueing the pattern of revelation established by God. This testimony supports me trough all challenges I meet in my life. I know that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me and knows me individually. I am grateful for this knowledge. It is the great compus for my life.

How I live my faith

I am involved in the woman's group of our church, the Relief Society. This group is active in serving members of the church as well as the community. We organize activities to teach, support and encourage women as they transition through young adult years, educate themselves, marry, raise their children, strengthen their marriage and family relationships, work in their community and meet the challenges of life. As an organization we reach out to others in our community to provide support through life challenges. We work at a community kitchen, we contribute to other charitable organizations to assist them in their goals and look for opportunities to make our community a beautiful place to live. I am also a temple and family history consultant. In completing this calling I learn about my own family history and genealogy and then teach others to learn about and find family ancestors. I teach them how to use computer programs to research information about their ancestors. I also tech them how to use the tools to take those names to the temple to perform saving ordinances for them.
