Hi I'm Steve

I'm a husband and father of a five children. I'm a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints(Mormon Church).

About Me

I'm a happy husband and father of a daughter and four boys. I enjoy hiking and biking with my family, visiting historical sites, and model trains. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) is a great blessing in my life. It has helped to give me needed direction and focus. I have learned to love and serve others and felt the happiness this kind of service brings. I have come to love the Spanish people. This started when I served for two years as a missionary in South America when I was 19 years old. My love for the Spanish people continues as I have met and become friends with many who live in the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were faithful members of a protestant church. During my childhood, they started feeling that something was lacking. My father worked closely with the clergy and felt that they were more concerned about the church’s property that it’s members. As a result they started searching and visiting other churches. One day, two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on the door. My parents invited them in and listened to their message. They knew others who were Mormon’s and knew that family was really important to them. Our family continued to have the missionaries return and teach them. They researched and visited the Mormon Church for several years. Most importantly, they prayed to know if the message they were receiving was true. God answered their prayers and our entire family was baptized when I was almost 12 years old. During high school, I started wondering if my parents had made the right decision. I wanted to know for myself if Jesus Christ had established the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and called prophets again in these days as he had during the Bible times. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was the word of God. After several weeks of earnest prayer, I received an answer. I cannot use words to describe how I felt inside when the answer came. In short, I knew in my heart that the Book of Mormon contains the words of God just as the Bible does. Since that time, I’ve never doubted that my parents made the right decision by being baptized. I can come to love the scriptures and am thankful for the guidance they are in my life - both the Bible and Book of Mormon. I have also prayed and know that God has called Joseph Smith and others as prophets in these latter days and that he continues to give them revelation just as in ancient times. I’m thankful for His love and guidance in my life and look forward to being able to live with Him again together with my family.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church has gives me opportunities to get to know and love other people. I’ve been able to meet people that are going through challenges in life. I’ve been asked to serve as a leader and help watch over other families. Visiting them in their homes has helped me to get to know them better and to become better friends with them. Some of them have shared deep problems and concerns with me. In several cases, I’ve been inspired (through the Holy Ghost) as to how to help them. I’ve rejoiced as I’ve watched lives change and my friends overcome their problems. I’ve faced challenges in my own family also. The teachings of the Church have helped me to take on these challenges and to endure them. I’ve had many prayers answered and received needed guidance at times when only God knew the answer to certain problems. I’m thankful for the opportunities my Faith gives me to work with others. I feel happy inside when I can help them physically and spiritually. I’m also thankful for the knowledge that I have about God and of His love for us (His children) and for His plan to help us be happy. I feel like this is the most important thing for us to know in this life.
