Hi I'm Karly

I am a wife and new mother. I love the beach, dancing and the Los Angeles Lakers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in California and currently live in Arizona with my husband and our new baby boy. I went to Brigham Young University where I studied Human Development and Business and have been working in the Human Resources field for several years. I have been married for 2 1/2 years to my best friend and we recently welcomed a new baby into our family. My husband and I love the Lord and each other very much and, although we are not perfect, we try hard to be good parents and friendly neighbors. We love to spend time together going out to dinner, watching movies, swimming in the pool and traveling. Because I grew up in California, I love everything and anything that has to do with the water. I love being in the ocean, boogie boarding, bodysurfing, and snorkeling. Thankfully our crazy golden retriever puppy loves the water too and we often swim with her and love to take her to the beach and watch her play around in the waves. Although I am not a great dancer, I love to dance for fun. I love to zumba dance and love going to weddings so I can get out on the dance floor. I also love to travel and see the history of new places and embrace the culture of the city or country. I have been fortunate to travel to many states within the US and a few countries in Europe and am excited to visit many more places in the future. My favorite vacation spot is Maui because it is so relaxing and easy to enjoy the beauty of the island.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised within the church, I am a Mormon because I choose each and every day to live my faith. I was taught the principles of our church throughout my childhood but, like many others who have grown up in the church, my conversion process was slow and steady. I remember as a youth the first time I truely believed the the Savior was real and that he loved me. I was in a church meeting and we were singing a song about the Savior. I had such a strong feeling of peace come over me confirming to me that the Savior lives and that the atonement is real. That moment was the foundation of the testimony which has continued to grow as I study and pray each day. I have learned that as I follow the teaching of my faith, I am blessed with experiences that continue to build my faith and trust in our Lord. While I was studying at Brigham Young University, I was reading the Book of Mormon as I try to do each day and I recall having another faih building experience which helped in my personal conversion to the church. I was reading a specific scripture which I had read many times before, but this time as I read it, I felt an overwhelming confirmation that what I was reading and the teachings that I tried to follow were the truth. While these are only two of the many experiences I have had of why I choose to be a Mormon, what I know is that I would not have received these witnesses if I was not seeking after the truth. The answers I was seeking always came to me while I was praying, studying His words, attending church or surrounding myself with good, uplifting things. Because I surrounded myself with these things, I was able to find the truth and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by seeking each day to be of service to those around me. I pray each day and study His words in order to become a better disciple of Christ. Each week at church I am able to be with the young women in our church ages 12 and 13 for an hour to teach them the principles of our faith and try and be an example to them of what the Lord wants them to strive to become. I am blessed by the opportunity to get to know and love these beautiful young women who are striving each day to choose to follow their faith and seek the truth amongst the various trials and temptations that are ever present around them. I am also able to be with them each Wednesday night where these young girls get together for various activities. They meet together and are able to serve others in the community, learn skills and attributes that will help them as they mature into adulthood, and have fun and build friendships with one another. As I do my best to love and serve others around me, it blesses my life as I am able to feel the love of the Savior more abundantly in my life.
