Hi I'm Kirsten

I have a great career, love to bicyle, am an avid musican, am a wife and a mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work within the Welfare System of the Church as a Job Coach at Deseret Industries. I have recently graduated with distinction with a Masters in Public Administration specializing in Non-profits. I am a happily married mother of two college students. I love music and performed internationally prior to my marriage 21 years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Lutheran and became disenchanted with that church when I saw them kick out our beloved pastor for giving "boring sermons". It destroyed his life and his marriage. I went in search of the true church for many years and finally was introduced to the ideals of this church by a member of my band. I called the missionaries and took the discussions in 3 days. I was baptized on a Sunday in a town in Montana the band was playing in. I have always loved the scriptures and was amazed at how the Book of Mormon fit into the Bible scriptures like lacing fingers of two hands together. I couldn't believe such a precious truth existed for all to have! Now 22 years later, I still marvel at how wonderful this gospel is! ~ How this church is here for all to enter in without being a respecter of persons. There is none that the Lord would turn away.

How I live my faith

I try to be an instrument of the Lord in all my dealings with my fellow man. I ask myself if this is how the Lord Jesus Christ would want me to behave and then do what ever course corrections I must in order to be in line with Our Savior's teachings. This does not mean I am without fault; for my faults are many and my mistakes are often huge. The key lies in the willingness to try to match the Lord's heart and compassion with my own. Even when I fail I can feel the forgiveness that comes with repentance and am encouraged to try again.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Kirsten
I work for Deseret Industries in Federal Way, WA as a Job Coach. Deseret Industries is part of the General Welfare Department of the Church and as such is intricately involved in assisting the citizens of the world in thier many needs. For every disaster that occurs worldwide... every flood, every earthquake, every tornado, every tsunami... what ever violent upheaval may present itself upon the world's citizenry... the Welfare Department of the Church responds... We send product in the form of clothing, blankets, and medicine... we send ourselves to work side by side with the residents in these areas to repair and clean up their homes... we provide the ability to give service for those individuals who would like to be of aid. In short, we are about the business of assisting our global brothers and sisters, whether they be members of this church or not, to assist themselves and bring about self reliance. Derseret Industries is itself a work program housed in a thrift store environment where associates enrolled in the program discover how to set employment goals and attain those goals in an active work role. We often create partnerships with business entities in our communities to give our associates work experience in their chosen field of work. Deseret Industries transforms lives by assisting the individual to recognize and develop thier talents as they apply them to the work environment. Show more Show less
