Hi I'm Dan

I'm a husband. I have five kids. I work for a major insurance company. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five kids that attend three different schools and keeping up with all their activities is hectic. But, I love it. I love my wife and my family. I wouldn't trade the time I spend with them for anything in the world. Sometimes people ask what I do in my free time or what my hobbies are. I laugh and say that I don't have any free time. My kids are my hobby!

Why I am a Mormon

When my oldest daughter was born, she had a hole in her heart. I remember the incredible feeling of helplessness I felt knowing that there was nothing I could do fix her. Later, when she turned four years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia and the same feeling of complete helplessness came back. Each time, I humbly turned to God for strength. I knew that He loved me and my daughter. I knew that He was a father, our Heavenly Father, and that he understood how I felt. And, I knew that while I was helpless to fix my daughter, God could make her whole. I remember humbly kneeling and praying for my daughter and then giving her a priesthood blessing. After each priesthood blessing, I remember the overwhelming sense of peace and comfort that only comes from putting your complete trust and faith in God. Thankfully, through the power and grace of God, my daughter was made whole each time. I am so grateful for a loving and understanding Father in Heaven. I know He wants to bless us, not abandon us. All He asks of us is that we turn to Him and put our faith in HIm. I know that when we do that, He listens, He answers us, He loves us.

How I live my faith

I try to do what the Savior would do if he were here. I try to treat all people with respect and kindness. I try to love and serve others. If I can help someone else have a better day, then I feel good.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Dan
Any substance that can impair our judgment, create dependency or addiction should be avoided. One of the greatest gifts that God has given us is the Gift of the Holy Ghost, but it's hard to listen to that still, small voice if our judgment is impaired. We can't draw closer to God when we are addicted to and craving wordly pleasures. Show more Show less
