Hi I'm Mikey

I was born in Indiana but moved west with my family when I was in elemetary school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love kids! All ages! I'm married and a mother of 4 and grandmother of 8 (so far). I'm a retired high school math teacher and loved that opportunity. I think associating with young people keeps me young! I enjoy living in the mountains and being outdoors. I like to paint and enjoy music. I have written some music and had fun doing that. I can write poetry, but not too much serious stuff. I enjoy cooking and planning parties! I'm told I am a good organizer, but I'm not sure about that. I am so fortunate to have a family who love each other and who love me. We seem to be a family of talkers and listeners -- and stay close to one another and love it! I'm so glad we live in the open spaces of the West! My husband and I enjoy going out to cut firewood. We enjoy rides on our ATV's and snowmobiles when when can. We do some traveling, but not as much as I'd like. I've found that being retired does not mean being bored. We work just as hard, but the blessing is that we can choose what to do and when to do it!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my family so much! I can not stand to think of being apart from them. So when i learned of Heavenly Father's plan that families can be together forever, I embraced that idea! This is the way a Loving Heavenly Father would want it! This made sense. I am a logical thinker, and the Church of Jesus Christ just made logical sense to me. I love the peace that I feel in knowing the Lord's gospel is here, and that the Lord loves ME and forgives ME and hears and answers my prayers!

How I live my faith

I live in an area where there are many retired people, folks who are sometimes "needy". Because I'm blessed with good health, it brings great joy to beable to serve others, even if only with visits or calls. My husband and I spent an amazing year in Houston on a mission , serving people from all over the world. What a wonderful spiritual experience as we watched others learn to love the Lord's gospel! I have also been blessed with the opportunity to teach young people. I spent several years teaching the young children in our church; what a joy it is to watch their enthusiasm grow! Right now I am teaching high school students at church and we are studying the Old Testament. I am amazed at the strength of charachter of these youth, and hope that the things we are studying will help them resist some of the difficult situations they face in their daily lives!
