Hi I'm Troy

I'm a newly wed, going to school at the University of Georgia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently going to college at the University of Georgia. UGA has been my dream school ever since I first saw their football team play when I was a freshman in high school. My field of study is currently pre-business, and I hope to be accepted into their accounting program. Luckily Georgia offers scholarships for students with good grades, because that is how I pay for school. I also work full time to cover my other expenses. Recently I was married to the girl of my dreams. We dated for two and a half years before we were married in Atlanta, Georgia. My wife, Annie, is also currently enrolled in school studying music. She is the most talented musician and composer I have ever met. Just like me, Annie works to support us through school. We are both very busy with work and school, but we love our new life together.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for many reasons. Both my parents are Mormons and they taught me by example how to live a clean Christian life. Their faith is a huge influence in my life. Even though I was brought up in the church and indoctrinated there from a baby, I really gained my faith in Jesus Christ at home. Mormons are encouraged to have a day set aside for family activity, called "Family-Home Evening." We have a short spiritual lesson about the teachings of Jesus and then we have fun family activities, like playing board games or watching family-oriented movies. Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" -Mathew 25:40. My Father is always volunteering to help others whenever and where ever he can. My mother is the same. It is their belief in Christ that allows them to have compassion for others no matter who they are. They have shown me what it means to be real Christians. I'm a Mormon because of the examples of my parents, and also because I have gained a divine witness for myself that the things my parents taught me are true. Mormons have a second written witness of Jesus Christ called "The Book of Mormon." I have studied this book front to back many times and I know without a doubt that it is a holy book that has lead me closer to Jesus Christ. I have knelt down in solemn prayer and asked sincerely whether or not The Book of Mormon is truly from Christ and I have received a holy witness that it is a true book. Mormons' proposition is a simple one; read, ponder, and sincerely pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, that is how I got my personal spiritual witness that I am following Christ's plan for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I help my wife teach a primary class of 6 year-olds at church. I also visit a couple of families in my church once a month to see if there is any way I can help or serve them. I was always taught that living by the teachings of Jesus Christ continues on past Sunday, and so like my father and mother, I volunteer whenever and where ever possible to help others. I also refrain from drugs, alcohol, and profane language. As a Mormon I was always taught to work hard and ethically, and so I am striving to study hard in order to have a successful career some day so that I can provide for my wife and our future children. In all the jobs I have had from the age of 14 til now I worked hard enough to be offered promotions and pay raises. I understand that hard work is not only a Christ-like quality, but it also has earthly blessings too.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely!!!! Jesus Christ is my savior. I know that He lived on Earth, was born to the virgin Mary, taught His Gospel, and suffered and died to save mankind. Personally I have received a witness that He is real, that He knows and loves me. The most powerful evidence that Mormons are Christians is The Book of Mormon which is replete with the teachings and gospel of Christ. Show more Show less
