Hi I'm Debbie

My parents joined the Church when I was two years old in Arizona. I love the beauty of nature to ponder God's gifts.

About Me

My parents were both teachers and we travelled during summer. I love the desert, pine trees, sunsets, glacier water, historical sites, rock formations, animals ... all the beauty created by God. I like to think in these surroundings and be in tune with my inner self. I love vacations - relaxing. In my early years I was rather shy but blossomed to enjoy life to the fullest. My hobbies are stained glass, middle eastern dance, cross-stitch, family history, ... being friendly. I never had children, but had grandchildren first through my step daughter and enjoy my nieces and nephews. I am writing a journal on my happy marriage to help them through times of trials. Life is full of actions that create simple pleasures and avoiding reactions. I'm retired after working the past 18 years with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

First, I believed because my parents raised me with faith in Jesus Christ. Then I realized choices in my life would create my path and stumbling blocks are always in the way. I had to know for myself what was true and I read the Book of Mormon. I knelt in prayer silently and felt the Spirit acknowledge to be still and know that the Church of Jesus Christ is true and was restored by Joseph Smith. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior and redeemer. This leads me to follow His example and repent of my shortcomings. I apply what I learn and made a personal commitment to live with peace, love and joy, not as the world might portray but eternal happiness. I know families are forever through the sealing power of the priesthood. I know God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow and he has a prophet on the earth to guide us back to His presence.

How I live my faith

I try to reflect the light of Christ by uplifing and encouraging others. I love to smile and brighten someone's day. I think in an eternal perspective and treat my husband with love and respect and be friendly to everyone since I know we are all brothers and sisters. I avoid snap judgments and listen with my heart. I avoid arguments because contention destroys and does not build relationships. I express my opinions appropriately, if not bluntly at times. I am analytical and realize sometimes I need to be more humorous. Humor helps relieve stress. I try to be gentle and honest. I go to church Sundays to feel the Spirit, strengthen myself and others. Right now I teach young children and listen to their laughter and intelligence. In the past I have taught high school young men and women early in the morning to increase their knowledge of the scriptures. A lot of people joke about wanting an instruction manual for life not realizing we just need to open it. I watch my spare time to make sure it is not controlling me. I research family history online and help others in the process. I go to the temple to seal my ancestors forever. I don't live a life full of restrictions, nothing seems like sacrifice; I have chosen the good things. I have committed myself to the pure love of God, simply charity.
