Hi I'm Amy

I am an English major who now works with children with disabilities. I love music, and language, and food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! I grew up taking piano lessons and singing any opportunity I had (my papa calls me his songbird). I almost always have something playing in the background to help me get through my day. As I am an English major, lyrics are the key to any good song. I served an LDS mission to Chile, and loved the wonderful people down there. It was such an incredible opportunity to experience a new culture, learn another language, and see how faith, miracles, and blessings from our Heavenly Father come to all of his children. I am currently working. I graduated with a degree in English, but have returned to working with children with disabilities--something that I love and have done since high school. And in the meantime I am enjoying life. I love playing games (the board and card varieties) with my friends, riding my bike, and eating sweets. I am so grateful for the many blessings I have been given, including my wonderful family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. My parents are also Mormon, and I was raised in a home that participated actively in the church. I am forever grateful for this. But while I was raised in the church, I have remained in it because I have learned for myself that it is true. I have had countless experiences where I have received answers to my prayers, and witnesses through the Holy Spirit confirming to me that this is the true church. I know that Heavenly Father loves His children more than we can possibly understand. I know that, because He loves us, He has given us prophets again in our time to help us know his will, just as He gave prophets to those who lived in the time of the Bible. He still speaks to us today! I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of mankind, and that He died for us, and suffered, that we might be forgiven of our sins and return to live with Him and Heavenly Father again. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the word of God, just as the Bible does, and that together they teach us the true nature of God, of ourselves, and our purpose in life. I am so grateful for this knowledge!

How I live my faith

I live my faith imperfectly, but to the best of my knowledge. I pray, and share my worries and fears, as well as my hopes and triumphs, with our Heavenly Father. I seek opportunities through reading the Book of Mormon and Bible, and participating in church, to receive answers from Him to help me in my life. Right now I have the opportunity to work with the sisters of the church. I go out every week and try to visit a few of them to see how they are doing, how we members of the church can help them, and to let them know, above all, that they are loved by our Heavenly Father. I cherish this chance to lift and serve these ladies I love.
