Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a professional musician until I was about 31. My wife and I realized that I just wasn't able to be the dad or husband I wanted to be while living the schedule of a professional musician. So, we packed up, moved to another state and started life over again. We had two daughters at the time. We both went back to school; my wife became a nurse and I got a business and marketing degree. We've since moved back to our home town where I'm a Director of Marketing for a company in the music industry. We now have five kiddos and life is splendid. I know when I'll be home nearly every night and am able to be really involved in the lives of my family. It's a wonderful life.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon when I was a freshman in college. A friend of mine gave me a Book of Mormon and I read it. I didn't grow up going to church but all the Mormons I knew were kind, devoted, and happy; still, I wasn't interested in becoming one myself. When I read the Book of Mormon, however, I felt a kinship with the stories and with the feelings that came over me. I still remember the day I said my first prayer. Joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Living His gospel through the teachings I've discovered in this church has given me the direction I need as a man in a difficult world. I'm a much better husband and father because of it. I'm eternally grateful for the focus, meaning, and joy it brings into my life.

How I live my faith

I'm the Sunday School President in the ward I attend. I get to be involved with youth and adults in the process of studying the scriptures every Sunday. I love serving in this way. Because our church doesn't have a paid ministry, I get to rub shoulders every week with amazing volunteer teachers who give of their time and talents to prepare lessons and teach. They do it every week! It's an honor for me to serve. When doing so, I feel like I'm serving my Savior and my Father also - and they certainly deserve that and more.

Are Mormons Christians?

I love the Savior. I'm not sure I know of a more Christ-centered people than the Mormon people. We do all that we can to keep Him in our hearts throughout our week and do our very best to live a life that might be up to His standards. I, and we, are far from perfect. But, I do believe that with His help, with His example as a guiding light, that we can do much in this life to ease burdens, bring light to darkness, and stand tall. I know that He is my Savior. I have dedicated my life to doing what I can to pay Him back, knowing that my life is all that I have to give. Show more Show less
