Hi I'm Elly

I grew up in Arizona. I'm a wife, a mom and a grandma. I work part-time, love to read and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work part-time in the business office of a private golf club. I have decided my greatest talent is that I really appreciate the talents of others!!! I'm awed by those who can sing, dance, paint or sculpt. I went back to school when I was 55 and completed my Associates degree. As a child, I took piano lessons. Now I'm starting to practice again. It's fun! I enjoy crocheting edgings around baby blankets and giving them as gifts. I really enjoy a good book ... a terrific mystery or political thriller are favorites! The most fun I have, however, is playing with my family. I've been married 39 years to my high school sweetheart. We have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up as a member of the Church, I still had to become converted myself. As I attended church meetings, accepted opportunities to serve in the church, read and studied the scriptures and the words of modern church leaders, the overwhelming truth of what I learned and practiced was impressed in my heart. I have an eternal perspective due to my understanding of who I am (a daughter of God), why I am here on this earth (to gain a physical body and to be tested to see if I will do the things my Heavenly Father wants me to do ... especially to be kind to and serve others), and where I am going after this life is over (through priesthood authority and the blessings of the temple, my family and I can be together, forever in the presence of God, our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. This perspective helps me deal with the very difficult challenges of life. I have learned that through the grace of Jesus Christ, I can do hard things. His atonement bridges every gap in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by looking for the good in others and treating them kindly. I am honest in all my dealings with others. Through my church membership, I have been able to help others by working with cub scouts as well as scout leaders. I have helped to organize service projects that have included decorating the bags that a local food agency uses to deliver meals to seriously ill, home-bound people; gathering school supplies to be donated to local elementary schools for children who might not otherwise have what they need; and organizing a special teacher appreciation dinner to honor outstanding local school teachers. I have taught classes for women and children. I really liked working with the children in our congregation (ward) to teach them songs that we then presented in a special church service.
