Hi I'm Gabi

I am an 18 year old recent convert, I grew up in Canada, I love children and animals. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am 18 and a university student studying child psycology. Children are one of my many passions. I work with them in many different settings. I have been a camp cousillor, director, coach, and just a leader. I also work with animals, I ride horses and was an assistant dog trainer for many of my younger years. I also enjoy different sports, such as soccer, rugby wrestling and hockey. In the past year I have traveled a lot to Egypt and to Mexico. I landed up being able to build houses and working with orphans, which was absolutly amazing. I have always wanted to be in a position where I could help people. And that is what I have been doing lately. Now I work for a company that allows me to be a public fundraising representative for a whole lot of different charitites. Until I am able to get enough money to go out traveling again to help more people .

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a very different household compared to other Canadians, a very strict Portugeuse family. With that came a lot of difficulties that made it hard for me to get over, and to turn to the Gospel. Being a Baptist member before, I didn't think there was anything more I could do to become closer to my Heavenly Father. But when my Oupa passed away, I was completely torn, he was my life and my everything and I couldnt understand why God would take him away. When I asked my Pastor where my grandfather was now because he didnt believe in God, he beleived in aliens. My pastor told me that because he didnt beleive here, he was gone and I would never see him again. To me and my heart I know this was totally wrong. Heavenly Father loves as all way to much to do that to us. When I first met the missionaries a few weeks after my grandpa passed away, I remember telling them that all I wanted to know was where they believed my grandpa was, and I even told them that I would never become a member of the church. And when they started teaching me that lesson, everything started to become true in my heart. I struggled a lot though with accepting it, I ran away from the Sister a lot and I didn't want to accept that it was truth. Specially because I was losing almost everyone in my life, and my family that I already didn't get along with was shunning me even more. Though the sacrifice was hard I knew that I could make it with the help of my Heavenly Father, I knew that He would always be there with me. All the struggles, hurt, pain loss I have gone through now doesn't hurt as much anymore because my savior took it all away because I was able to let my heart open and let Heavenly Fathers love rush through me. It's still hard but no one said it would be easy being a Saint of our Heavenly Father. We are the ones Satan will test even more because we are Fighting with Heavenly Father, but what lays ahead for us, will be worth every single struggle, because he takes it all away for us.

How I live my faith

Being a recent convert in the church, and yet i have been able to participate in so many different ways. From helping organize dances for our younger adults, to playing soccer with our youth. I have been able to sing in our church as part of worship aswell... I spread all this through my volenteering, helping new members out, or members who have just moved into our neighbourhood, I help them move in, or move out of their new or old homes. Doing good deeds helps me remember my Savior and I am able to set an example to the people around me as well. Reading my scriptures every day and working hard to follow my Savior, can be clearly visible through the people you meet in everyday life. I have even been told that "there's something about you that's different" from people i just meet at work.

Are Mormons Christians?

Gabi
Yes, Mormons are Christians. To be a Christian means to "be a follower of Christ" We do just this, we believe in, have faith in and follow Jesus Christ our Savior. He is the center of our faith, we pray in His name. The Book of Mormon, is in fact Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
