Hi I'm Karoline

I'm a writer. I'm a reader. A soon-to-be Bride. I'm an English Major. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Apparently I am frequently told I'm adorable, but I am blonde and a hyper little mess part of the time. I love to smile, laugh, and give hugs. I'll do anything for some chocolate and I love to hang out with my friends and watch movies. I also like photography and Jane Austen. My least favorite movies are Snow White and Planet of the Apes. My favorite colors are purple and blue and Mini golf is one of the coolest things on the planet and I absolutely love Mustangs (horses and cars). My name is Karoline and I'm a Mormon! (;

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the church when I was born so I have grown up in the church all my life. I, however, was the one who made the decision to be baptized and become a member when I turned 8. As I grew up and learned more and started to really think and ponder about the church, I received, through inspiration, a true belief that this church is where I am meant to be. I don't understand everything, I still question and wonder if this is "THE" church but I have a very strong knowledge of a Heavenly Father who loves me and His Son Jesus Christ who loves and cares for and protects me, who atoned for my sins so I may live with my Heavenly Father again. God is not God but My Heavenly Father, a Father who I say "I love you" to every night. I may not know everything but I am confident in that knowledge and I figure if I continue to try to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to Him, then I'm doing pretty good in life.

How I live my faith

Wow, how do I not live my faith? To start with the basics, I pray, a lot, to my Heavenly Father no matter where I am. I read my scriptures (I'm currently in Exodus of the Old Testament). I pay 10% of my income in a tithing to the Lord. I attend church every Sunday where I am either teaching or planning a weekly activity for the young single adults (age 18-30) in the area. I also attend a scriptures study class every week. Beside all that, I also do a lot of volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America (due to having two brothers almost at Eagle Scout level) and a lot of volunteer work around my neighborhood. I believe in service, I believe in giving (even if it's something scary like giving blood!) and I believe in helping others. I frequently find myself holding the doors for a large crowd of people for 5 minutes, I say thank you to my many bus drivers, I talk to people around me and ask how their day is just because I know that they are important to Heavenly Father and they are His children, who He loves, as well, and because I know that Jesus would do the same. All in all I try to act like Jesus, I try to act in a way that is pleasing to him and in accordance to his teachings. That's the simple truth. (:

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

This actually took a few years to discover for myself and I grew up a member of the church. The way I found my Heavenly Father was through a mixture of prayer and scripture study. I've always been good at remembering scriptures and the stories within them, so I knew from them that I had a Heavenly Father who loved me but I didn't truly *know* he loved me until I started praying every night. The challenge given to me by leaders was to start to say prayers every morning and night for a certain number of weeks. I fulfilled that and tried to keep up the practice after the deadline. My mornings were so busy though that I usually only remembered doing my nightly prayers. Saying a prayer every night thanking Him for things throughout the day and asking for help in the day to come, helped me to realize what He had done for me. I soon got to the point of feeling his love and help and now I tell Him I love him every time I pray. Another thing that helped was keeping a blessings journal, where I wrote down all the good things that had happened to me throughout the day from something as simple as a eating a Hershey kiss to friends, to being able to watch a favorite movie. It showed me how much my Heavenly Father had blessed me with. I recommend doing the same! Show more Show less
