Hi I'm Brian

I am a husband and a father who loves to skateboard and surf and yes I'm a Mormon

About Me

The love of my life, my wife Sara, and I moved to Arizona 19 years ago to start our family. We are the parents of four teenage children. We have three sons and one daughter. Things can get pretty crazy around our house. I was born and raised in San Diego and grew up surfing and skateboarding. My dad got me interested in surfing when I was just big enough to get on his board with him. I think I was about 3 or 4. I picked up skateboarding somewhere along the way. There is not much surf here in AZ so I have passed down my passion for skating to my boys. We have even gone so far as building a half pipe in our back yard. We love being together as a family. If we are not skating we take many trips to the beach to escape the long hot summers and get back to the surf. My daughter is the youngest but she can keep up with her older brothers in just about anything. She is such a great joy and a blessing to all of our lives. Being together as a family is what we are all about and It is our faith in Jesus Christ that gives us the greatest hope.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church and served a mission in Boston Massachusetts. It was not until I served a mission that I came to know for myself the truths of the principles and doctrines I had been taught in my youth. The church has blessed me in all areas of my life. I am a better husband, father, and person because of my membership in the Church. It is ultimately my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ that blesses me beyond measure. We believe the Bible to be the word of God and we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. The Book of Mormon is a record of the ancient inhabitants of this continent. It records the personal visit of Jesus Christ to these people after his resurrection in Jerusalem. As I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me the truth of this sacred volume of scripture. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he did in fact see God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. The great thing about the Book of Mormon is that anyone who reads it and prays about it can also know of its truth which will lead them to a knowledge that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth in its fullness.

How I live my faith

Although I am not perfect I really strive to follow my Savior Jesus Christ. I love my wife and children and work hard at providing and caring for them. They are my number one priority. In addition to my family and work responsibilities, the church provides wonderful opportunities to serve. Each member is given a calling or assignment. These callings vary and change from time to time. One might have the opportunity to serve as a teacher, a missionary, or a leader in the church. No one receives any pay for these callings. It is all done on a voluntary basis. In June of 2010 I was asked to serve as the Bishop of my local congregation (ward). It has been a great blessing to serve the members of my ward. There is so much joy and satisfaction that comes from giving of ones self. I have found that serving others is the key to happiness. If you ever feel depressed a sure way to feel better is to go serve someone in need. Jesus Christ set the perfect example of service and love and I am working at following him each and every day.
