Hi I'm Brett

I'm a graphic designer, sound engineer, and musician. I'm a father and husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Snohomish Washington with loving parents and three older siblings. As kids, I remember my parents limiting our t.v. time and encouraging us to do other things. I've always loved music and went on to study it in college. During high school I enjoyed taking pictures and making movies with my friends. I also loved going to church dances. I served a mission in Santiago Chile and grew an immense love for the good people there. After my mission I attended college with my sister at Western Washington University. There I split time between the music department, church activities, and cheer leading practice. Years later I met my wife Katie and we were married in 2007. A few years later our son Jackson was born. I truly love my family and love my life! I'm so grateful for the church's influence in my life and for teaching me how to be a better husband, father, and follower of Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong LDS family and have always loved going to church. There came a time however when I had to find out for myself if it was true. When I was leaving on my mission I knew that I couldn't rely on the testimony of others. To make it through two years of hard work, I was going to have to find out for myself. When I went to pray about it I got the distinct impression that I had to read the Book of Mormon again before my prayers would be answered. The prophet Moroni taught in chapter 10: "4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I knew that if the Book of Mormon were true than the church had to be true. God would not reveal another book of scripture unless it was to the true church. I took this promise to heart and began to diligently read and pray about it. After several weeks of hard work and frustration the answer finally came. The Spirit of God answered my prayers with a clarity that I had never before experienced. I know that the church is true and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. The beautiful thing about the above promise from Moroni is that anyone can find out the truth. If anyone honestly seeks the truth and reads and prays about the truth of the Book of Mormon, they will receive a marvelous manifestation of truth from the Holy Spirit of God. To this end I testify. Thank you for reading this and best wishes if you decide to take the challenge.

How I live my faith

I've served in many different capacities at church. I have a love for the youth of the church and love working with them. I've taught seminary, been a counselor at EFY(Youth camp), worked with the boy scouts, done deejaying for youth dances, and have even gone to girls camp as a camp dad. It's been a lot of fun and I enjoy most helping the future leaders of the church grow their own testimonies. I'm currently serving as the second counselor to the bishop in my ward. I'm still having fun working with the youth as we help plan the different activities and service projects. Over the years my core testimony has never faltered after receiving an answer to my prayers, however, my journey has not been easy. I find that daily prayer and scripture study has brought me closer to Christ and ultimately happier. The hardest times for me in my life have been when I have forget that simple concept. I know that through Christ's atonement I can be saved from sin. I have an immense love for him and his gospel.
