Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Biography of Richard Sanchez: Raised in the Bronx, New York City, New York I have always known that someday I will be a professor, a teacher and will pass on what I have learned to others. Such is my calling in life...but not now. I began my collegiate pursuits attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the heart of Manhattan in 1977 after graduation high school at the tender age of 16 majoring in what else, criminal justice. After transplanting to Puerto Rico, I enlisted in the US Navy in 1980. My naval assignments have taken me to Florida, Hawaii, California, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, back to California, then back to Hawaii. I have been fortunate to have experienced overseas assignments to The Republic of Panama, Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Diego Garcia, and Africa. After serving 15 years on active duty, two kids, one dog (Husky, Sheppard, Collie mix) and one divorce, I retired from the Navy in 1995 - Go Navy! I have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Systems Information Technology, a Master of Business Administration degree with a specialty in Global Management in 2009. I am a diehard New York Yankees fan but have a sweet spot for the Mets as well. I enjoy playing drums (rock, jazz, pop, Latin), playing chess, participating in sporting events, and watching classical films. I am the proud father of two sons, James, and Enrique, and a grandfather of one, Jahzel who I try to spoil at every possible opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

Raised as a Pentacostal I was surrounded by sermons filled with hellfire and damnation. Somthing was always lacking in my spiritual life. I also had a need for a greater understanding of God both spiritual and mental. I found it in April 1987 when I was baptized and confirmed as a member of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. I encourgage all those investigating Mormon church to ignore all the rumors about Mormons and seek knowledge yourself by reading the Book of Mormon. One of the greatest aspects of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints is the order and organization of the Mormon faith. I have lived in several states while serving in the Navy and it was a great confort to know that all Wards operate exactly the same. This was of great confort when arriving at a new duty station.

How I live my faith

I have had the previledge to have served in many chirch callings. These collaing have been in blessing to me as I served; and through my service have the opportunity to bless others.
