Hi I'm Daniel

I grew up in Colorado Springs, and spent a lot of my time in the mountains camping & fishing with my family. And -- I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hello and thanks for visiting. I am a convert to the Mormon Church, although at a young age (10). The conversion was more or less in name only until I decided to fully embrace the Gospel at age 17. Since that time I have enjoyed the blessings of the Gospel in my life, and I shudder to think many of the possible life's paths I could have taken did not include the Church. I am married and have six children, ages 19 through 31. My wife and I live Colorado. By profession, I am a Director of Human Resources in one of Colorado's largest law firms. I have a slightly profitable hobby of writing -- I write travel guides as well as books on how to do genealogy. I have written four travel guides and to date, have written five genealogy books. I have signed a contract to write two additional genealogy books. I am also an amateur photographer and have a great setting in Colorado to practice my amatuerism! And, as alluded to above, genealogy is one of my hobbies. I enjoy the detective work required to find and record information about my ancestors. Finding information about them makes them seem more real to me and helps me love them for who they were, for the lives they led, and for the characteristics I have that come from them. I love the outdoors and enjoy being in the mountains. I have hunted and fished in the colorado mountains off and on throughout my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) because God has told me this is the Church to which I should belong. I have a very personal witness that He called a prophet in these last days -- Joseph Smith -- to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know there is a prophet living on the earth today -- Thomas S. Monson -- who guides and directs Christ's Church just as the ancient prophets did. From a more practical standpoint, I am a Mormon because I believe the doctrines of the Church. I believe in the lifestyle it encourages, and believe I am happier than I could otherwise be. I see others around me without an anchor in this life, and they seem blown back and forth, and many times, their lives are in turmoil. I appreciate the Church's teachings that provide me direction and purpose in this life.

How I live my faith

I try very hard not to have my membership in the Mormon Church be a Sunday-only membership. I try to live my life by the Church's principles of honesty, chastity, and by doing good to my fellow man. I am honest in my dealings with others and try to see the best in others. I give my employer a full day's work for a full day's pay. I try to be a good example in all that I do. Being human, I fall short often, but continue to try to do better.
