Hi I'm Stephanie

I'm a Mormon. I am an interior design professor at a university.

About Me

I am the mother of six children and six grandchildren! As a single mom, I raised my three daughters before I remarried. I love riding horses and playing with my grandchildren the most! But I also like to hike and read. I love to learn about design -- both natural and man-made. I love teaching my design students. They are fantastic! As an interior designer, I love to help people shape their work, play, and home environments to be both functional and beautiful. I believe the home is a reflection of ourselves and our souls -- both need a makeover once in a while. I love positive thinking! I love beauty! I love my husband (He makes me laugh every day) and my family!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. He is at the head of this church. I was raised a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith. My grandfather, father, and uncles are all Lutheran Ministers. At age 19, I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints through a girlfriend. I was asked to read the Book of Mormon. Instead, I chose to immerse myself in the New Testament. I became "thirsty" for the first time to read scriptures and learn for myself about my Savior. The first Mormon church meeting I attended was a "Fast and Testimony" meeting. A young teenager, about my age, talked about her feelings related to Christ. I realized there was a difference between "knowing about Christ" and "Knowing Christ." She knew Christ and I did not. After taking the "New Lutheran Member" lessons again and the Mormon missionary lessons, I desired to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. It was a very difficult decision to make, but it was the best decision I ever made! I have come to know my Savior; I can testify that He knows ME and He loves ME. There have been tragedies in my life, but He has helped me through them. I am a happy woman who loves the Lord with all of my mind, might, and strength.

How I live my faith

My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ means everything to me. It brings me hope and joy and comfort. How do I live my faith? I am happy. When I hold onto my faith, my fears disappear. I pray. I study the scriptures - daily. I seek to know the Lord's will instead of my own. I find that when I do these things faithfully and consistently I see people and events differently. I don't believe there are perfect days, but I believe there are perfect moments. These are rare and beautiful. I find they typically come with my family. These moments build my faith in the joy of family service.
